When I arrived in Dorze Lodge from Tsehai the first I noticed was the magnificant views. The Lodge's are build on a cliff in Dorze, 30 minutes from Arba Minch and 10 minutes from Chencha in the South part of Ethiopia. When you awake early in the morning you can enjoy the beautiful sunrise. It is a place where you...

I was staying at Dorze Lodge for almost two months. I was invited by Tsehai - the owner. I was doing my charity work there - teaching English at the local primary school. The whole experience was absolutely great! I feel in love with this place! Tsehai and staff made me feel like at home - to be honest it...

Everything other reviewers say about the location and the views is absolutely true. But it is important to understand that this is not a hotel as Westerners might expect. Our room was a hut, perfectly clean, with two beds and a chair. A bamboo cane for hanging clothes. There was an electric light when the generator was running. Our hut...

From the Dorze Lodge Tukuls you have a magnicifent view over lake Chamo and Abaya, what is really breathtaking! The huts are situated in the middle of a very green and beautiful landscape. We recommend to do some of the very interesting trekking excursions, for example to the Mt. Muge or to the colourful market in Chencha village. There are...

This lodge is remarkable! Perched on a peninsula of land, but instead of water surrounding, there is sky. The views are unbelievable, The Dorze People are awesome and the "huts" are authentic. I was in Ethiopia on business in the Omo Valley and fortunate enough to get to stay here while in Arba Minch. Tsehai and his staff are awesome...

I loved Dorze Lodge too. And the whole of Dorze, in fact - it remains a very special part of my trip to Ethiopia, even given so many fantastic places and experiences. Why? The location of the lodge is stunning; gorgeous views, and lovely lush green hills/walking country surrounding it: hire a great value guide/companion for a day through the...

We did not stay at Dorze Lodge, but passed through en route from Arba Minch to Awassa. It was fascinating to see the Dorze houses - huge beehive-like structures that gradually diminish in size as the termites eat away and the base. The livestock live in the houses with the villagers, though they are rotated into the fields as well...

Dear Northfolker, We are happy that you advise the people to come to the great Dorze-land. However, you didn't drink the holy water as you describe in our Lodge. You can see this in the pictures on our tripadvisor page. Our lodge is uniquely situated on a great cliff, overlooking the great lakes, Nechisar park and Arba Minch. There is...

This is the nicest lodge in Ethiopia by far. It's a basic accommodation but it has everything you need to enjoy dorze for a couple of days. don't forget to enjoy the breathtaking views on lake chamo and abaya. The restaurant serves great lunch and dinner and trips to the dorze village can be arranged through the staff. We went...

If you plan to go for a 2 week sightseeing trip through whole northern and southern Ethiopia, forget about it and go 2 weeks to this lodge. Arriving there you can't believe what you see. I've been to many amazing places around the world, but this one overcomes them all. The view you have, the whole flair and atmosphere in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the site of Dorze Lodge. In the fantastic mountains of the Dorze people close to Arba Minch, we have recently built a spectacular lodge which is completely run and owned by the Dorze people. If you stay in Dorze Lodge, then you stay very close to nature and to the local culture. This is the place to come to yourself or in touch with the friendly local people. In general, the more adventurous traveller feels more at home in our lodge. The lodge is built in a rather rough (and beautiful) environment, and mostly staffed by local people. Don't expect things as running warm water or a heater in the fresh nights. However, if you think, like us, that a campfire has more value then the luxury of a 30 page food menu, and that a real and free smile from authentic local people beats the luxury of room service, then we are sure you will have an unforgettable time. You are very welcome. ... more   less
