We stayed for 3 nights in early Feb and although we enjoyed our stay it didn't quite come up to expectations. Our main disappointment was with the accommodation, this was in one of the beach houses not in the main house, (not in itself a problem) and was located amongst palm trees close to the beach. The beach house was...

We stayed for 6 nights at Kunnola Beach House over the Christmas 2012 period. I’ll start with the good things. - The location is remarkable. Nestled in a coconut palm grove in amongst an Indian village it gave a real flavour of authentic Indian life - The beach is stupendous, especially Kizhunna beach which is a few hundred meters up...

It was the first visit to India for myself and our 4year old. My husband had not been to Kerala before either. We booked into Kunnola Beach house for 4 nights and extended our stay as it was so good. The food was excellent and plentiful with breakfast, lunch and dinner being served every day. The beers were cold and...

An arranged taxi collected us from the railway station. Great to have this arranged. The beach houses are set amongst coconut trees just 50-100metres from a really lovely long empty beach with clean seas (mussel divers each morning and dolphins spotted on 2 occasions). There are Indian family homes around the houses and the children are lovely, happy and polite....

Stayed for 5 nights, room was clean and comfortable with a good mosquito net. Food was excellent, served at fixed times and eaten at a communal long table with a constantly changing stream of fellow guests from all around the world. The beach is a few minutes walk through the coconut groves, but one needs to be modestly dressed walking...

After dealing with an overbooked flight and a harrowing (7 hour) taxi drive, we arrived at Kunnola beach house at about midnight. Paulos was waiting up for us, and had set aside a wonderful Kerelan dinner. The rooms were rustic and comfortable and well within earshot of the sound of the waves. We stayed in the main house, located in...

The rooms were very good, the bed was comfy and clean. The staff were very helpful and the food was delicious. There was a mosquito net. The location though wasn't the best, I say this partly because we stayed at the sister property (Kannur Beach House) first which set in lovely gardens. Kunnola Beach House is set back from the...

Although Kunnola was offered as a substitute homestay for our preferred choice, we couldn't have been happier with the rooms, service and location of this homestay. It is well off the beaten track (our local taxi driver could hardly find it) and in a very quiet village environment, 2 mins walk away from miles of gorgeous sandy beaches. Idyllic. The...

Very nice, new renovated and tastefully furnished guesthouse with large rooms, all with a private terrace, surrounded by a peaceful garden. Friendly and helpful staff, original delicious keralian food. Beautiful long beaches to discover, very clean and safe. The sea is calm and very suitable for to swim. Lot of space just to be, watch the fisherman and beautiful sunsets....

“If you want the HOMESTAY experience you will need to book up Kunnola Beach House, which is VERY popular and booked up - they offer you the Kunnola beach houses as an alternative - not the same thing, but a common thing on the popular coast. We ended up loving where we were, but initially we missed the Homestay experince.”
