We stayed at the Safari camp The facilities there are excellent and the catering gourmet! In addition we had a superb fishing guide and had three days outstanding fishing in different locations carefully chosen to match the conditions.

We are from Sydney and were very keen to experience some time away in NZ at a luxury fishing lodge as my husband is a keen fly fisherman. We have just returned from 4 nights at Poronui and are already planning our return for a much longer period. Right from the start we were so warmly welcomed and provided with... More

An absolute must do for all New Zealanders to get back to the tranquil reality of exploration. Top rate facilities and service from the staff we encountered, Eve, Elizabeth and Chris was excellent. We were made to feel like family friends and nothing was too much trouble. Our party of 18 (10 adults and children aged from 5 to 18yrs)... More

This is a lovely lodge. We stayed in a high end "cabin" but it is much too nice to be called a cabin. There was a living room with comfy leather chairs, gaslit fireplace, desk, and refrigerator stocked with local wine. The high speed internet was very reliable. The personal deck has an amazing view of a fast moving rapid... More

We spent two short days at this spectacular place as part of a 2 1/2 week NZ tour, and we will return. Everyone who works there is kind and warm...all lead by Eve Reilly who clearly sets the tone. Fly fishing and horse riding were great. Cabins are clean and generous. The open kitchen and community dining experience were wonderful.

Great food and service! Private cabin with beautiful views. Fishing and Guide Craig outstanding! Caught rainbows and browns, all over 3 pounds. The rivers were all different and all beautiful. Be sure to bring wading staffs with rubber tips or Poronui will find a wooden stick which works just as well. Excellent operation.

An easy 45 min drive from Taupo, Poronui exceeded my high expectations for all of the activities, food and relaxation I could hope for. My 9yo daughter and I were looking for a short easter break and the horse riding, fishing on lake Taupo, helicopter ride, wine cellar, etc were truly wonderful. The great food and awesome friendly staff round... More

A lovely lodge and seven cabin st-up. Friendly family atmosphere. Great food and wine. Excellent fishing and hunting opportunities, as well as a number of other out door activites. Highly recommend for those who love the outdoors. The stay there absolutely made my trip to New Zealand.

Poronui is in a class by itself. Helicopter fly fishing with outstanding upstream dry fly fishing for very big Rainbows and Browns. It is not easy fishing but it is very rewarding. The cabins are very comfortable. The meals are delicious. The staff and guides are all tip top. This was our second trip to Poronui but we will return.... More
