This is a family run hostel in the center of Tena. Juan Carlos is the friendly, helpful owner. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the location is great. There are rooms with private bathrooms and others with shared bathrooms, all of which are clean. There is a nice garden and hammocks, free wifi, and a kitchen that you can use. Good value.

A central and budget hostel in Tena, 'the door to the Amazon'. Juan the owner is extremely nice ans helpful. It was a great option for us to stay (cheap and clean, practical kitchen) while focusing on the activities we wanted to do in the area (Amazoonico, Ruta Ancestral del Chocolate) but the place doesn't have a lot of ambiance - there were little interactions between the guest and no real 'common area'.

I first found this spot back in 2005 and loved how welcoming, clean, responsible and laid back they were. 12 years later, the staff seemed different but they continue to offer stellar service at a great price. Their rooms and facilities are far from luxury but are kept in tip-top shape and all that you need. Similar to my past visit, I was in Tena for rafting, and the folks at Welcome Break helped us troubleshoot our last minute scramble to find a rafting trip at the last minute after our original booking fell through. They let us use their personal mobile phones to make and receive calls despite the many interruptions it caused to their night; provided helpful info about the town; and allowed us to store gear with them beyond our stay. We had no air conditioning but their circulation fans work great to cool the rooms. And the shared bathrooms were always fresh and clean. WiFi is a bit slow, but that seemed to be the case everywhere we went in the country. Absolutely a place I recommend for your stay in Tena.

We discover this hostal and we past 3 nights here. The room and the bathroom was clean, we slept well. We enjoy the hamac place and to use the kitchen. Very closed to the center and not so far from the bus terminal (easy to go by feet with a heavy bag). We recommand it

The bed was hard, and my room was next to the office so there was some noise in the early evening. However, the room and bathroom were clean, they allowed me to hang out in the common area for a few hours after I checked out, there was free wifi, the sheets and towel were clean, and the price was fair.

A very basic hostal, clean and comfortable. A nice welcoming and an area outside with a hammock, tables and chairs to sit around. Maybe misses a bit of conviviality and a fresh paint of coat, but definitely a nice place and clean place to stay in!

Stayed there while visiting friends. The first room we had was small and the lighting was poor, but the rates were reasonable and we only stayed there at night and were out and about during the day. We upgraded rooms to one the balcony suites - a bit more expensive but more spacious. The balcony got direct sun so clothing actually dried.

We stayed here for three nights then one more night when we got back from a jungle trip. The owner is a really friendly and laid back guy and let us leave our big backpacks there for three days when we went on the jungle trip. Really nice hostel. Kitchen is a little old but still usable. Bathrooms are clean. Shower doesn't go really hot but hot enough for a comfortable shower. Have good info in reception about bus timetables. Nice area with hammocks to relax in outside.good location in town only five minute walk from bus station.

It's not a luxury hotel, but it's clean, comfortable, and cheap. Bathrooms are shared, but they are clean and have hot water. There's free wi-fi and a computer you can use in the office if you need to check email or Facebook and don't have a way to do so. The owner is very nice and helpful if you need anything.

This hostel is ok. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. There is free internet. It has a kitchen, which is not too clean but it is usable. The beds aren't comfortable. There is a nice outdoor area. However, it was a little uncomfortable to hang out there on a Saturday because the owner's family was there. So it was awkward. There is also a church next door that can get annoying because you can hear the loud music and the kids will come play. Also, the rooms can be loud especially if you get the room next to the owner's kitchen; you will be awakened at 7am with the sound of a blender and pots and pans.
