The accommodations were very comfortable, the food was abundant and delicious and the sisters were extremely hospitable. My family took 2 rooms, each with 2 beds and private bathroom with hot shower. Clean linens were provided. Each morning breakfast was waiting for us at our table in the guest dining room, which included and egg, toast, banana, and tea/coffee. The... More

What a wonderful place. We met so much hospitality here. The rooms are simple, but they have everything you need. The food was delicious. We got a good breakfast every day with coffee, tea, juice, pancakes, bread, jam. fresh fruit. For our safari days we got lunch packages and for dinner there was always lots of good food. The place... This lovely peaceful monastery is an excellent option for those wishing to access Ngorongoro crater. It is literally 20mins from the entrance to the Ngorongoro reserve. They offer clean, simple rooms and tasty food at a far more reasonable price than other hotels/B&B in the area. The nuns are helpful, friendly and very hospitable. This is definitely worth considering as... More

I bet you will like this place. There is much rip off with prices through the ceiling if one goes to Ngorongoro crater. If you are happy with a good guide, a simple but clean room (with hot shower), and good food (no grand cuisine, just good) then stay at the Karatu Benedictine monastery just at the fringes of the... I just came back from an amazing safari in Feb and stayed at St Catherine's for one night. The monastery a charming, cosy and friendly place for those looking for an alternative type of accommodation or just to drop by to have a meal. Rooms for guests are in a separate wing (surrounding a beautiful courtyard) from the nuns' quarters... More
