Enjoyed two nights here. Food at the restaurant was great - dinner served till 8pm so make sure to get there on time. Rooms are well appointed. Three things to note: room walls are quite thin so can be noisy, door locks are very frustrating (you'll understand if you come to stay) and the breakfast lady just seemed very unhappy...

We stayed here on the 4th night of our week tour of Iceland and absolutely loved it. Despite how busy the Golden Circle is, this was really quint and authentic. Staff were lovely and room was very cute ( little wooden hut!) We ate dinner in the evening here and were able to watch the cows at the same time...

We stopped by this little homemade farm ice cream spot and the lady at the counter was so friendly that she warmed up this slice of homemade pastry they make and put ice cream on top with whipped cream like how I wanted (even though this combination wasn't on the menu) and it was sooooooooooooo delicious! Hope they put that...

Most amazing place to stay in log cabins with great views. Dinner - burgers great, then lovely ice cream all served looking at the cows going about there day. Northern lights made an appearance. Breakfast wonderful start to the day. Milk produce made on the farm. A definite recommendation 👍🏻

We were a group of 6 on a weekend break to Iceland. We arrived at the farm fairly late due to delayed flights but the hotel was fairly straight forward to find, even in the dark and snow. We were welcomed warmly and were just in time for dinner at the restaurant. This was upstairs and over looked the cows...

I visited with my husband and another couple on our fourth night in Iceland. The staff were warm and friendly, the food was excellent and the Farmhouse was cute and quaint. The restaurant overlooks the barn, with a glass window giving you a look into what the cows are doing. So lovely to stay on a working farm, and to...

This is a remote rural location like a lot of other place outside of Reykjavik, very conveniently located on the route of the Golden Circle. It is far from major light pollution, so chances of seeing Aurora are much higher here than in more populated areas. The bungalows are small but very functional and very nice, you really don't need...

we stopped in on one of our site seeing trips and had lunch upstairs. It was late November, so we had the special Christmas beer with a delicious broccoli and cauliflower soup--great bread too! My daughter and her friend split a veggie burger. Great stuff. Afterward we went down to the creamery and had ice cream and pet the cows...

While we stayed at more "upscale" and modern hotels, such as the Fosshotel chain, we enjoyed our stay here the most because it was the best representative Icelandic experience: super super fresh food, friendly Icelandic family-owned business, lots of animals and very casual. The rooms are wooden cabins, geothermally heated floors, and very comfortable, each with its own shower/bathroom. Yes,...

A great hotel within easy driving distance from Reykjavik, but feels very remote. Very friendly and welcoming staff, and lovely cabins with fantastic underfloor heating. Breakfast was varied and an excellent start to the day. The restaurant opens for evening meals and is great, including a vegetarian option really apprecaited by my daughter. The internal windows facing the cow barn...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a family run business that offer comfortable stays in the Icelandic country side. We offer rooms with great views over the valley and are right in the middle of the Golden Circle route. We also offer a summer time horse rental with trips to a local waterfall, as well as our farm to table restaurant and coffee shop with home made ice-creams. Here people can see into our dairy and watch the cows whilst they eat the products that come from them. Everyone is welcome to stop by here at Efstidalur for a taste of the traditional Icelandic farm life. ... more   less
