Note -the lease on this Hotel is up for sale. Tried to check in at 2pm -place not open so went for a walk. did check in at 5pm to be told we do not do evening food anymore (seems the very inviting website has not been updated--ignore all the website information). Very dark interior that smells of stale beer...

Visited the Royal Oak on our way home to catch the train from Chapel station. It is many years since I was last in the Royal Oak but it is still a warm and inviting pub. On this particular occasion the Landlord had put together some food for the Remembrance Day veterans to sample (and because it was a cold...

Lovely friendly pub and hotel. Only stayed one night while visiting family but would stay again. Clean rooms and a good breakfast what more could you want. Did not get time to have good look around village so need to come back again soon!

This is our favorite local. Great food from the new chef - good choice and prices. The steak was delicious! Tunes on the duke box all night. Cracking evening. May there be many more - lovely people and staff ;)

Stayed here for four nights (14 to 17th September 2015) . Having recently been totally refurbished by the new owners it is of a very good standard. Front rooms suffer with bad road noise - but that is usual in town centres. Evening food is very good and generous with an excellent chef. A few thing need fine tuning but...

Arrived at Royal Oak to a really friendly welcome. Room is great with fantastic views of the area. Ordered food and when it arrived it was fantatic. More than ample portions cooked to order, cooked to perfection. This is a place i would reccommend without hesitation. New occupants have made significant changes, all for the better. Could not be happier.

I and my husband called in at the Royal Oak for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. We ordered roast pork with accompanying mashed and roast potatoes and three choices of vegetables. Everything was nicely cooked and the home made gravy was delicious. My husband then ordered home made apple pie with ice cream, which was a generous portion...
