Had an overnight stay at Samuel Fox. Boomed because of location & because the rooms looked contemporary, downstairs pub had fire. We were catching up with friends & decided to not eat at the pub, so I can not comment on evening food - the breakfast was scrummy though! The room was clean & comfy, with nice additional extras, such...

Stayed here for my husbands birthday for a couple of nights. Everything is just right at this lovely inn, fantastic staff throughout .. waiters, waitress and owner so welcoming and professional. The place was spotlessly clean and the bedroom comfy and cosy with a good choice of tea, fresh coffee, decanter of sherry, chocs and biscuits, lovely basket of toiletries...

Recently visited for Sunday lunch and we had an excellent experience. This is a fairly small restaurant with possibly only about 30 covers. The opening times and days open are limited so check the website to ensure they are open. I would advice booking. The staff were all very welcoming throughout our meal, including the chef who came out regularly...

I stayed here for three nights in September. A lovely room at the back of the hotel which was quiet and restful after a 30 mile walk around The Peaks. Lovely touches, such as real coffee and a cafetiere in the room which was a good size. I had two evening meals which were both excellent. The breakfasts were amazing...

We spent one night here including the evening meal. The hotel is friendly and informal, and the room very nice. There is easy parking at the rear of the hotel. It is very close to Mam Tor and Ladybower Reservoir. The evening meal was excellent and the service just right. The bar has decent ales too.

We recently spent one nights dinner, bed and breakfast here with another couple and were blown away by everything this country inn has to offer. A fantastic warm welcome from the front of house, Harry, who was very professional and good fun! Beautiful accommodation with super little touches such as a small decanter of sherry, chocolates and grapes in the...

This fine gastro-pub has a superb location, in a lovely part of The Peak District. We stayed here with our friends for 2 nights (Sat./Sun., mid Oct.) and both couples were fortunate to be located in the front two bedrooms, which have lovely views (back two rooms appear equally good, but overlook car park). Our room was really comfortable, with...

Had an extremely good meal here, very well presented and absolutely cooked to perfection. The chap serving and taking the food orders was very professional and courteous in his manner. Would recommend a visit for the fine dining here to anyone visiting the area.

A huge thanks goes to the very engaging Harry, for helping to squeeze us in on a very busy Saturday night. The food is worthy of a Michelin star in our opinion - beautifully presented & executed. Sublime flavours. No need to say anymore. Just wow, as someone has already said! Would go out of our way to eat here...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Samuel Fox Country Inn is situated in the pretty village of Bradwell in the heart of the Hope Valley in Derbyshire's peak District National park and offers breathtaking views from the bar and restaurant. The building underwent a full refurbishment in July 2008 and is modern and stylish while still managaing to retain its rustic charm. All of its rooms are delux double rooms with en-suite bathrooms; they have at least 26 inch flat screen televisions;internet access and coffee and tea facilities. In October 2012 the Inn was acquired by new manager and head chef, James Duckett in his first pub venture after an early career in the kitchens of fine dining restaurants in the UK, France, Netherlands and Australia and, more recently running his own restaurants in Devon and Andalucia. James is passionate about food and uses, wherever possible, good locally sourced, seasonal ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes, for his 'blackboard' bar snacks and a la carte lunch and dinner menus alike. With two AA rosettes, fine food is a special feature of the Samuel Fox. However, there's also a very warm welcome awaiting those wishing to just enjoy a drink in comfortable and convivial surroundings. ... more   less
