Delightful hotel. The standard is very spacious, equipped with a bathroom with a large bath and separate rain shower. There is no coffee machine in the room, but there is a kettle with instant coffee and tea. Breakfast is during the week in the restaurant on the ground floor. the weekend on the first floor, this may be better indicated, we had to search now. The breakfast is good and extensive. Dinner is good, service fast and alert. We are a fan of Van der Valk!

The booked room was supposed to be available in the early afternoon, but unfortunately this was not the case, as they had not yet made up the beds. We had to wait a total of one and a half hours in the reception hall until we could go to the room.
The time we had to spend waiting for the room to be made available was sweetened with complimentary cappuccinos.
The accommodations were very spacious and had a large bathroom with a double rain shower, a bathtub, and double sink vanities, though one had a clogged drain. The toilet was in a separate small room.
It was nice to have two separate bedrooms, as this was a family accommodation.
In one place the wallpaper had visibly come off the wall and in another place the cladding on the headboard of the bed was slightly damaged. Furthermore, the remote control of the TV was so dirty that we did not use it.
All these problems could have been fixed by the room service before handing over the room to the guests.
It was not easy to find a free parking space in the parking lot in front of the hotel, as this hotel is a popular conference hotel. There were several events held there, so the parking spaces were quite filled by the company employees who attended.
The evening meal in the hotel restaurant was excellent, as you can read in my separate review.
The breakfast buffet was also very good. The selection of cold and hot dishes was impressive and one wished that there was such a good choice elsewhere.
It was very positive that after mentioning the above shortcomings, an apology was made for the inconveniences and a price reduction of about 13% was subsequently refunded.
It can be assumed that in the current situation, this hotel also has staffing problems, like everywhere else in Europe, and that in normal times no problems would have occurred.

My boyfriend and me booked one of the suits. The suit was big and we had: private sauna, steam, bathtub and a rain shower. The room was clean and neat, however the toilet smelled a little bit. The staff of the Hotel and Restaurant is friendly. The food of the restaurant (salmon and I had burger) was good. The dessert was very mighty, but nicely decorated. The restaurant is indeed pricey, but don’t come here if you are cheap, cause of course the food is going to be expensive. Luckily what we ordered was tasty. The breakfast was included. We paid 307 euros for one night, since it was a holiday.
Lastely; it is better to have a car, so you can move the quickly.

I guess this is luxury for those who don’t understand the meaning, a good size, clean room (€129) with large bathroom that is made up of cheap finishes and detailing; Front of House Staff, tries, smiles and is friendly enough, although completely under informed of how a hotel should run.
Very poor food quality – their carpaccio (€14) is cut out of a roll of glued together meat: completely tasteless by itself and the plate is overly dressed with rucola, dreadful pesto and fake Parmesan.
Mains (€18) aren’t much better; though leather schnitzel is served with sad vegetables, pork sate is mushy with a sauce that tastes like it comes straight out of the box by Van Oers; probably it is, as they advertise in the in-room magazine.
Mini Grand Dessert (€6) consists of a couple of overly sweet “things” none of which have a profound flavour, the chocolate doesn’t taste like high quality, the mousse is just flavoured gelatine pudding and most bakers wouldn’t dare to take credit for the “macaron”.
House Wines are overly expensive, taste horrible and are sourced only based on purchase price.
I personally rather spend a little more and stay at a good hotel, Van Der Valk Almere is a rather poor example of hospitality and barely deserves that rating based on the acceptable room quality.

The Van Der Valk Hotel in Almere is superbe.
Very large bedroom and spacy bath room.
Very well organised in these Covid-19 times as well at breakfast times at during diner time.
Large breakfast facilities and excellent choice of meals at diner time.
The Hotel is located close by the highway and with immediate acces to the bike routes to explore the environment and certainly the beautifull "OostVaardersplassen". A natural environment with horses, dears and a lot of birds living in and around this natural park, which can easily be visited with a bike.

Our ‘wellness suite’ (at 265 euro) was supposed to be a nice start for our date-night. The room-size and the wellness items (sauna, steambath and jacuzzi) are great! But since this hotel was in ‘full overhaul’ (putting additional floor just above our floor) the balcony was in full chaos (see video). Also we found some ‘strange mould/spots’ on our duvet. Asking for some kind of compensation at the front desk was answered with; ‘you can take 2 sodas’. Very disappointed

Dear guest, We find it very unfortunate to hear your stay has not lived up to your expectations. Upon check-in you have made known you did not see our note regarding the additional floor at forehand. Therefor we have offered you to change the booking or cancel your stay free of charge even though you already checked in. We have given you some time to think about it since we understand it was something you were not expecting to deal with during your stay. Despite this situation you did choose to stay in our hotel, because we found the situation unfortunate we offered two extra drinks for the inconvenience. Upon check out you informed us the duvet was covered in stains. We have seen the picture of the duvet and can confirm this is not up to our standards. Our sincere apologies this has occurred during your stay. We have informed the housekeeping supervisor of our external housekeeping company right away to prevent any similar situations in the future. We also have spoken to the person who cleaned your room. She has assured us to pay better attention in the future to the state of the duvet before putting the clean linnen on them. Also she wants to offer her sincere apology for the inconvenience. We hope to have informed you accordingly. Kind regards, Hotel Almere

A very good experience on the terrace. Staff was very friendly and made sure our glasses were never empty. I was a bit sad the asparagus menu was no longer in use, but I still greatly enjoyed the other dishes. Really lovely beef tartar and Seabass and risotto dishes.

In this hotel it seems to be normal that the shower drain doesn't work. We made it clear the evening of our stay and they didn't fix it. They offered a room with less facilities for the same price. Now, afterwards, they claim that they have offered an upgrade.
All we were offered is 2 soda's. After a full complaint they offered a €25,- coupon, less than 10% of our booking price!

Great size rooms and handy location. Part of the Van der Valk group of hotels. Bar service could have been quicker with another bar person. Lifts dont arrive at floor 1( reception,) but 1/2 a floor away...not good if you are wheelchair bound. Hotel is about 30 mins from Schipol. Good breakfast buffet.

Since the hotel opened in January 2001 we have enjoyed three week-end staycations, totalling up to 7 nights. In general we like the vdV Almere for is its decor, friendly staff, nice big rooms, beautifull pool and central location for leisure activities such as the lakes, het Gooi and proximity to Friesland. Although this is not the best vdV hotel, we've allways received excellent value for money here, both for the quality of lodging and food. Unfortunately every stay we ran into some minor problems which didn't ruin our stay but keeps me from rating it 5*****

Dear guest,
Normally when we call the taxi arrives within 10 minutes. You can also reserve the taxi in advance!
Kind regards,
Hotel Almere
Hi!
Not sure if it is still relevant, ;-)
Its 3,5 km to station Almere Centrum. The station most nearby is Almere Parkwijk (2,5km)
However, bus connections are excellent in Almere. Depending on the line, they drive between 6am - 01am every 6 to 30 minutes. I believe line 6 is closest to the hotel and will take you to trainstation Almere Centrum in 10 minutes.
So yes, you can walk, but I would recommend the bus.
