We enjoyed our 1 night stay at villa Thakhek. Our room was beautiful, large and clean. As for the staff, they are pretty reserved but I have nothing negative to say about them. We had dinner and breakfast there too. It was cheap, simple and good, although several things were missing. I recommend this hotel. It seems much better than the Travel Lodge for a price which is not that high given the quality (160,000 kips per night). Great value for money.

We made a reservation in Villa Thakhek at booking.com. We filled in our creditcard details and the booking was confirmed. We arrived at 8pm and went to the reception of the Travel Lodge (the villa has no reception) the booring-looking staff told me that Villa Thakhed had no free rooms, so we had to find something else. When we made complaints about it they told us he worked for Travel lodge so had no responsibility over it.

So myself and my fiancée stayed at Villa Thakhek for 3 nights whilst we did a trekking and a cycling tour of the Khammouane Province. Villa Thakhek is right next to the Thakhek Travelodge and just off the main road, about a 20min walk from the centre of town. The room we stayed in was lovely. Nice and big, very clean and made up daily, the air con worked really well, really comfy bed (most mattresses in Laos are harder than the floor) which was so nice to know you we were coming back too, and a nice bathroom too which didnt smell. Only downsides to the room was that the shower didnt get hot (despite being an electric shower) and that the wifi was quite slow, but we made do. Besides that the room was awesome, and it was very quiet at night - no noise from staff, other guests or dogs. The main reason that i havent rated this place 5/5 is due to the staff who greeted (bit generous) us when we arrived. Their english was terrible (not a problem really) but mainly they just didn't care. We attempted to have some breakfast there one morning before a tour, arrived at 7am as the sign said from 7am onwards, to be told that they didn't do breakfast until 7.30, and provided us with no alternative, which was a pain as we were being picked up at 8am. So we had to wonder the streets and attempted to find something and ended up with some crisps as everywhere hadn't opened yet... We alsobhad some laundry done - which came back ok, however 2 of my tshirts had blue stains on which weren't there before, and when we went to reception to let them know there was nobody around at all. I looked in the travelodge, around the villas, nobody. We waited and waited and after 20mins gave up. Figured we would have an extremely hard time explaining to them what had happened that there probably wasn't much point anyway, so i wouldn't recommend getting your laundry done there! There was always a man on a tuk tuk waiting outside the establishment so that was handy in a number on occassions, saved us attempting to ask at reception (if there was anybody there) to book us something. Overall was a very nice place, having a comfy bed and clean room to come back to was amazing, just lack of staff and pro-activeness let them down really!

We made two stays in this property: one night before leaving for the Thakhek loop, and one night right after. Our first stay was impeccable: we got the only bungalow of this hotel [but we didn't know it and staff didn't tell us we were upgraded]. To be mentioned: this hotel doesn't have any reception and it is the staff of the Travel Lodge, a different hotel located at the same place, who take payments and give keys. When we left, we asked if it was possible to have the same room when we'll returned and the receptionnist said "yes, no problem". When we returned, receptionnist informed us that the room was not available and gave us a nice but smaller [tiny] one. We requested to meet with the manager of Thakhek Lodge: this guy was really rude and lost his self-control: he insulted us not only one time [which could have been considered as a mistake] but few times. He told us guest satisfcation was not his priority, and we could sleep anywhere else: this behaviour is unacceptable ! This incident justifies our 1-note rate. However, rooms are well-furnished, clean and comfortable. Hot water is not really hot and WiFi is nor super fast.

We booked two nights in this hotel wich is relatively far from the downtown. In Booking.com and other websites they say that bicycles are avaible to move around the hotel. IT IS NOT TRUE !! We traveled there 3 weeks ago and thez said us there was no bicycles we can use and what Booking or other websites to book say are not there problem (!!!!). So you can stay outside the downtown with no way to move except tuk tuk service (expensive) or motorbike they rent. The rooms and the place is nice but they don't have bicycles as they use to say on Booking.

we stayed one night at Thakek Villa and loved our room. it was very clean and big. also the bathroom was great. also I liked the surrounding in front of our room. we arrived very late and nobody wanted to open the doors. it took a while until somebody came. sometimes it was a bit difficult to order somethings. things got mixed up or forgotten. nevertheless we enjoyed our stay.

I loved the atmosphere of the Villa. So cozy, comfortable and social. If you are doing the loop staying here makes things very easy, as you can rent a scooter 50m away from the Villa and leave your big bags there while you loop! Also good for meeting others who are looping or have looped. If you are a solo traveler, staying in the dorm is 50,000, which is hefty but again - paying for the experience! And they have delicious food!

Thakhek was a special part of our trip and Villa Thakhek added to that. It stood out among the other places we stayed while traveling. The price was very reasonable, the room was spacious and comfortable. The location was quiet and peaceful with beautiful greenery. The service was very good, but the staff is mild-mannered, so I can see why at first glance others didn't see it. Ask for Bun/Bird who is extremely knowledgeable and helped us make our plans. The housekeeping was also very good. The only downside was the restaurant on sight really wasn't very good, even their fried eggs for breakfast was lacking. The distance from the town center isn't too bad, but be sure to plan for that. Also, since we had read other reviews about the shared reception, we just knew to check in at the travel lodge's reception area and that was no problem. I will note that we traveled during low tourist season.

Spent a night there and I find unacceptable to have music until 2am. The fan had a big ticking issue so I couldn't have it running, I decided to spent the night with the mosquitoes and windows open. Rooms were okay and service fine. I won't recommend because of the noise.
