PRO Less than a mile from Hadrian's Wall walk Good breakfast to set you up for a day's walking CONS - generally dirty room. It was tired looking (e.g. hole in ceiling, poor lighting, very squishy mattress) and the shower knob & carpet were noticeably unclean. - bland food. Filling but not tasty. - relatively expensive accommodation

The hotel rooms are a bit old fashioned when compared to modern bland hotels. It depends on what you want. I found mine clean and had all I needed for a two night stay. The old fashioned approach however was excellent when it came to food and drink. The food was good British fare: it was well presented, nourishing, tasty...

Poor accommodation (grubby/shabby rooms and dining areas, nice clean bed linen and towels) and very poor food (almost inedible) but very nice staff. Constant machine noise through the night, windows could not be opened. Good potential but lacks care in delivery.

Recently stayed here for 1 night whilst in the area to do some walking. Having read the reviews beforehand I knew I wasn't going to get the most modern of hotels but it was perfect for what we wanted. Food was wholesome, typical pub style evening meals and a large choice for breakfast. The hotel is a bit dated but...

Not far off the walk is this lovely pub. The grounds are well cared for and inviting to sit outside though the time we were there it was a little cold. The bathroom was interesting but functional. The meals were good and the staff friendly.

We stopped here for lunch. We had the goats cheese salad which was only a starter but filling enough for lunch. I can truly say it was the nicest goats cheese salad I have ever tasted. It includes two slices of bacon which I enjoyed. They did a veggie version for my wife. We would definitely eat here again. The...

Just returned again to The Hadrian Hotel as we know how well we are going to be looked after. We always take our dog and he is so happy to come here as he is looked after just as much as we are. The meals are out of this world and huge! We can't eat another thing all day after...

A spacious hotel which is located in a quite area, offers first class dining, excellent service, a good breakfast and plenty of advice of the surrounding countryside. Car parking is good and in an excellent position for visits to Hadrian's Wall.

Well placed for Hadrian's Wall walkers, we stayed here during our walk. The room we stayed although lovely and big was a little tired but very comfortable. The evening meal was very tasty, plentiful and well priced although again the whole place is looking a little tired.

Well located for Hadrian's Wall. The rooms are a little tired but everything is very clean, there is plentiful hot water and the beds are comfortable. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the owner cares greatly that your visit is enjoyed. Food is a highlight with some very good and well prepared dinner dishes utilising local ingredients. The choice...
