Detailed Reviews
The Royal Hotel was booked for a 2 night stay to enable us to visit our grand daughter who is at Liverpool University and it was a 100% successful stay.
The hotel was clean, airy, great location for what we wanted and extremely comfortable.
The staff were amazingly friendly and cheerful and adhered to all that was necessary for Covid 19.
We decided to have a meal on the Saturday evening - 3 courses for £19.95 and the 3 different meals we had were all first class, well presented and the right temperature. We also had a bottle of House Red as the 3 of us were having 3 courses!
A full english breakfast on Sunday was almost too much after the Saturday evening meal so a lighter breakfast on Monday morning!
A 10 minute walk to the local station so our grand daughter could get back to her accommodation in Liverpool centre and we used the train to go back into the centre on Sunday.
All in all cannot find fault with anything and when we visit our grand daughter again I know where we will stay! Excellent value for money.

Stayed four nights on business and it was a nice experience. There is a parking area in front of the hotel and plenty of free on street parking as well.
The hotel has a traditional feel with a proper key on a fob for room access.
My room was large and the bed was fantastic - really comfortable.
Staff were very friendly and breakfast had a range of hot options cooked to order - I had the Eggs Benedict most mornings.
It's a ten minute walk to the beach and the Gormley statues and five minute walk to South Road with a range of restaurants.
I would happily return

We booked The Royal for an event taking place nearby - despite the event having to move location the hotel proved to be well-placed with the Merseyrail station only 10 minutes walk away (travel time of around 15 minutes to the city centre) and taxis (which the hotel arranged for us) costing £12 to the city centre. Staff friendly and helpful, rooms spotless with all the facilities you’ll need and a great breakfast included. Large selection of restaurants and pubs 5 minutes walk away, and a quick stroll to Crosby beach. Ample parking available in the car park or road outside. Perfect for our weekend stay...

I had a really good stay here, you were always made to feel welcome. The location is great with the train station less than 10 minutes from the hotel and the Crosby Coastal Park more or less on your doorstep. The reception staff, cleaning team, bar staff and breakfast staff were all very friendly and approachable. There was lots of options at breakfast and the meals I had in the lounge bar were delicious. One of the days day I had to be in Manchester very early and they very kindly made me up a lunch box. The room and bathroom were very clean, the shower very good and I had a good sleep every night.

This was a relatively last minute decision to add an additional night to our trip to the Lake District. A great location and stopover enabling us to visit the Beatles Story, Matthew Street, Cavern and Albert Dock. We arrived early and were greeted by a very friendly gent on reception and he assisted us with registering the car on their automated system, a quick simple process that meant we could explore the city leaving the hassle of car parking and driving into the city behind.
We were assisted with the booking of a taxi which was swift and reasonable £13.40 to Matthew Street.
The hotel was clean and tidy the room was spacious with a sea view. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was adequate with some complementary toiletries, fluffy white towels.
Tea coffee making facilities were provided as well as a hairdryer.
We asked for fresh milk and this was provided free of charge and delivered to the room.
Having eaten out at midday we were able to order a snack from the bar in the evening which was
delivered to the room. No complaints from us whatsoever with either the food, service or price.
The breakfast in the morning offered a selection of cereals, cold yoghurts, porridge, fresh fruit as well as the various cooked options cooked to order from the menu. Highly recommend the Royal Breakfast.
Would we stay here again definitely yes.

Really friendly service from the moment we arrived. We got there about 10am, and they let us use the car park. Our room was ready, so we were allowed to check in at that time too.
The room was nice and spacious, a large bed with a sofa bed pulled down for our son. We could control the temperature in the room well, and it's in quite a quiet area so we were undisturbed. The bathroom was really clean with a bath with a shower unit above. The pressure and temperature were great.
Our room overlooked the road to the side so I don't know if you can see the sea from the front. Crosby beach with the 'Another Place' statues are about 10 minutes walk away. We went to Liverpool on the first day. Waterloo Station is about 10 mins away in a high street with quite a few pubs and so on; the train takes about 20 minutes to get you to Liverpool Central.
Breakfast was nice. The usual selection of cereals and fruit juice etc, then you order a bacon butty or full English or whatever from the menu.
I'd stay there again.

We arrived to a very warm welcome from the staff at reception. Our room was spotless, very comfortable and had plenty of space. The breakfast menu is extensive. I don’t think we have come across so many choices on a breakfast menu, The ladies who were on duty at breakfast were so friendly and very accommodating.
We had dinner in the restaurant each evening. The food was delicious, portion sizes are very good and very meals are reasonably priced.
The location of the hotel is also very good, with Waterloo Station, for trains to Liverpool, within a short walk, it is very close to the coast and It is a quiet area.
The Royal certainly offers very good value for money, and we will certainly be staying here again.

First time I had stayed here and it was excellent and very good value. I has bedroom 16 and it was spotless and in very good condition. Bed comfy and very quiet with a nice sea view. The en-suite was excellent and shower in the bath and was superb. The food in the restaurant was excellent and good value and real ale "Fab Four" beer very good. All Covid measures and government guidlines appearded well adhered to with regular cleaning and santizing in the dining room after guests had left. Staff very friendly and helpful. I would definately stay agin without hesitation when next on business in Liverpool.

Happy smiling faces on arrival, requests asked for I got . Lovely clean room, comfy bed, lovely and warm. Room had everything you need extra pillows, iron and board not that I used it but it was there, a fan, a safe, a hairdryer, kettle tea/coffee biscuits, plenty of hanging and drawer space for a long stay. Bathroom spotless and plenty of thick fluffy towels and toiletries. Bar staff friendly and smiling!! The breakfast WOW the best and biggest I’ve had in a long time, scrambled eggs were perfect and that’s a big plus for me. And it was piping hot another plus. Coffee was fresh served in a cafetière. Fresh fruit yogurts cereals etc and toast to make yourself fresh. Served with a friendly face and a smile. Check out was again a friendly smiling face doesn’t cost a lot but it’s infectious. (Smiling)
I would highly recommend a stay in this lovely hotel.

Lovely place with very helpful and friendly staff. Huge bed with spotless sheets and soft cosy bedding; a big Yes to my request to take away my breakfast roll which was carefully wrapped (and tasted great); and a general feeling that people who work there are happy to help their guests. The decor is a little old-fashioned in places but everything that matters works well (great shower) and I would go back anytime. Nice vegan food offering too!
