The minimal cost to upgrade to a/c and beach view made this a mini-haven in the midst of a hot day! Super friendly staff and guests, breakfast typical, they even stored our refrigerated food for us and froze our ice packs. Scarlet macaws so close and frequently seen!! It is a quiet little town, safe and slow pace, very convenient... More

Àfter a long driving and exploring day was looking forward to resting in a longe chair by the beach at the hotel. The roadway in depicted the lifestyle surrounds. The first impression of hotel was a run down appearance. The room location was the only positive feature as it was at the back end corner with a view by the... More

After a whirlwind 6 day trip of Costa Rica from San Jose East to Irazú Volcano, Guyabo National Monument and Turrialba for white water rafting, and then North to La Fortuna for hot springs, waterfalls and hiking, and then down to Monteverde for zip lining, it was finally time to spend our last day in Costa Rica enjoying the heat... We had a planned stop here and when we pulled up were a little hesitant as it was in a small community (had been in more touristy parts) with nothing (nightlife) really to do. Once we were in our room though with the ocean view balcony it was worth it. The beach, kind of dirty, however no one is on... More

Well we stayed here one night out of necessity. It wasn't bad. had an odd smell, but rooms were fairly clean and the pool was clean and warm. We had some trouble with the tv and internet due to the rain, but once the rain passed we were fine. The owner lives on premises and was super nice and swam... More

I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Carara. I had a second-floor room which has a balcony with a small table and two chairs. This type of room has an ocean view. The room itself was very clean with cold AC. The front desk will call a taxi for you if you want to visit the Carara Reserve. This will... More

After reading all the glowing reviews we were very disappointed. We paid for a deluxe room, ocean view and a/c. It was very tiny with an old double bed that sunk in the middle and two flat pillows. The pool was cloudy and scummy. The beach was filthy, it looked like a garbage dump. All this would have been forgivable... More

My coworkers and I stayed at the Hotel Carara for two nights on a weekend beach trip and had a wonderful time. I had a room with a balcony looking towards the water and was thrilled when I woke up, walked out, and heard the macaws right overhead! The view from my balcony was incredible. We were a short walk... More
