Well, this is the right place. Views over the Mandrare river, from your terrace or tent, really look like it! Just expect the unexpected: no power, no telephone, no internet - no A/C! Just nature like nowhere else, birds, lemur etc. Only place to cool down: the pool - quite small, but there are only 5 tents there! Just ask...

The River Camp exceeded our expectations with outstanding food and great service. We enjoyed the outings especially to the Spiny Forest. Watching the Sifakas jump between the branches is something we will not forget. Be sure to choose flying to and from the Camp since the roads are very rough.

This is an exceptional place for several reasons. It is small and remote which means that tourists don't come in their hordes. The experience therefore feels very personal. The tents are comfortable and have everything you need including the most wonderful views over the Mandrare River. The local village is across the river and on occasions the sound of singing...

We flew to Fort Dauphin from Tana with aptly named MadAir and from there had a wonderful flight in a 4 seater to land at a tiny airstrip in the middle of the bush. We were greeted warmly by the staff (including Ed - one of the owners of the lodge) and there started the most wonderful 3 days. As...

The first time I saw the Mandrare River Camp was from the air - and that was just surreal . The flyover signalled the staff on the ground that we were arriving and a fleet of Landrovers sped out to meet and greet us from the airstrip five mins from the Camp. The Camp is in on the edge of...

Our room was one of the luxury tents attached to a solid stone bathroom (large enough to hold a conference in) and had a verandah overlooking the river. It was very comfortable and was cleaned and swept for bugs several times per day. We chose to go on as many forrest walks as we could and saw four of the...

Mandrare River Camp captures everything one could want in terms of stark beauty, wildlife and comfortable accommodations -- * The unique "spiny forest" and gallery forest hold ready access to ring-tailed lemurs, sifakas, mouse lemurs etc. -- all on easy walks after a short drive from the camp. And the many baobabs standing high against the low agave fields are...

A beautiful and wonderfully situated tented camping resort situated in a unique location. The staff is awesome. Accommodations are comfortable and clean and the food is delicious- a rarity in Madagascar. Met marvelous people and had extraordinary outings with the lemurs which thanks to this lodge have become very habituated to people. But what I must enjoyed was getting to...

From the moment we arrived the staff could not have done more to make our stay any better than it was. From the moment we landed at the airstrip to the moment we left they were happy, accommodating with every request and knowledgeable about the area. The food was excellent. The sundowners watching the sun set over the dry riverbed,...
