My husband & I recently stayed at The Langbury as we were visiting Dunster Castle & the West Somerset railway. The location was perfect for both. The house itself is lovely. Our room, which was spotless & very comfortable, overlooked the pretty garden. We had a very warm welcome from our hosts, Paula & Nigel, beginning with tea & cake...

Fabulous stay in a lovely house. Nigel and Paula are wonderful hosts, The room was large overlooking the bay, with a sofa and en-suite. Spotlessly clean.A nice touch was an honesty bar, and on East Sunday guests had a chocolate Easter Bunny on their table, lovely. The area is peaceful, with the steam train nearby. There are nice villages to...

I have reviewed The Langbury and given it five stars before so why another review? Quite simply because we have just returned from another wonderful visit and I don't think there is a better B and B anywhere. It really is like a home from home with Paula and Nigel greeting us as old friends and giving us such a...

Have stayed here before and the quality remains the same. Paula and Nigel great hosts, nothing to much to ask, Nigel even gives a weather forecast after he's cooked breakfast. The room on the ground floor was light and very clean with lovely sea views. Great design for people who have difficulty walking, with thoughtful handles in the bathroom and...

From the moment we entered we were made feel at home by Paula and Nigel. The room was bright and pleasant with all you could require. Breakfast was wholesome and well cooked , nothing was too much trouble. Very helpful in giving directions as to where to go , not knowing the area this was helpful.

We had a fantastic 6 night stay in this perfect guesthouse. Really warm welcome from Paula and Nigel with a cuppa and piece of cake in the lounge/dining area. The whole place is spotlessly clean, our ground floor room had really comfy beds with a great view of the coast towards Minehead. Plenty of options for breakfast, particularly enjoyed the...

Nigel and Paula are excellant hosts. There is good off-road parking. We were greeted enthusiastically by Nigel, who gave a tour of the breakfast room with views towards the sea and West Somerset Railway line. We were then taken to our room, a family room overlooking Blue Anchor station and a clear view of trains approaching from Minehead. The room was...

We recently spent 2 nights here. We were greeted by Nigel & Paula and made to feel very welcome. The place is spotlessly clean- I would say that it is the cleanest place we have ever stayed in. The bedroom was tastefully decorated and the bed comfortable, The lounge & dining room were to the same high standard. The breakfasts...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Langbury is the large Edwardian home of Nigel and Paula Smythe. Originally built as a gentleman's residence, it stands in its own grounds set in an elevated position in the small coastal village of Blue Anchor. Here you will find a friendly welcoming atmosphere combined with individual attention and an excellent Aga cooked, locally sourced, breakfast. Accommodation is provided in five individually furnished rooms which all enjoy magnificent views of the sea and the hills of glorious Exmoor and the Quantocks which are a feast for the eyes at any time of year. The Langbury is 100 metres from the beach and Blue Anchor Station where you can board a steam train on the West Somerset Railway - the longest preserved railway in the country. We are approximately half a mile outside of the Exmoor National Park and three miles from the medieval village of Dunster with its fairy-tale National Trust Castle. The traditional seaside resort of Minehead is five miles to the west and the ancient harbour town of Watchet three miles to the East. ... more   less
