You feel like you enter into someones home when arriving in this historic hotel. The owners are present at all times and they are so, so passionate about this place and they alway stop by and talk to the guests. The hotel is charmingly old, but well renovated, keeping it old-fashoined. We had a large room with a huge bathroom and a balcony. Very comfortable. There is a patio/terrace along the front of the main bulding and this is a perfect spot having a night cap. The breakfast was very good and covid-19 rules was taken care of. We had dinner in the large dining room our last night and the three-course meal was excellent. Highly recommended.
As previous reviews have said, staying at this hotel is like staying on an Agatha Christie film set. It is perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea, but a treat for those like me, who appreciate that kind of thing. The main rooms are elegantly furnished and decorated. The bedrooms are individually decorated and no two rooms are alike. The beds are comfortable and the linen clean and inviting. We had a family room for ourselves and two teenagers and liked two bedrooms in one and having a little sitting room to relax in. No TV here, so keeping true to old-fashioned way of life. The breakfast was lovely and served in the stylishly decorated dining room. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there was no buffet when we stayed, we ordered what we wanted the night before and it was brought to us already plated or to share. There was some road noise, and the walls are paper thin so you hear other guests moving around and talking, however this is to be expected in a building of this age. …
We had a wonderful stay at Visnes Hotel. The staff were so accommodating and welcoming, and we absolutely loved the cosy atmosphere. Our family room had just recently been renovated, so we stayed in a huge family room with amazing beds and linens, a cosy lounge area and a big, new bathroom. The hotel was centrally located and the breakfast was amazing! But the staff and the owners positive and welcoming vibe really made our stay perfect! We travelled with our one-year-old and they were so helpful in all areas! Would definitely stay there next time!
A small and very old hotel with a rich history. The rooms are very basic and the beds too soft. Very friendly staff who takes the precautionary actions regarding Corona very seriously, maybe even a little too serious! :-) At our depart we received some good tips for a few places to visit, which we did before driving to Fagernes. Related to the Corona the breakfast was a choice menu, which worked in a very pleasant way for us. Enough choice and fresh served! The rooms was clean. Only remark: no towels at the room at (late check in) and it took some time to get them delivered (handed over personally). The bath room amenities that we missed at first, were only found at depart, because they were not in the bath room but in the bedroom itself. Probably we would have found them when the towels would have been there too;than it would have been logical. We stayed just 1 night, passing by in a very relaxt way and found out that probably Visnes hotel was one of the few available hotels. This monopoly position resulted in very high room rates, especially considering the fact that this was just start of June! We think the room rate was not in line with the quality that is offered and let be clear: we live in Norway ourselves for a long time and run a hotel ourselves. Nevertheless: the stay was pleasant and Stryn is a nice place to stay for 2 or 3 days.…
Stopped here on our honeymoon. Marit and her husband were very nice and accommodating. Historical and cozy atmosphere all the way! Large and clean rooms, with a nice breakfast the next day. Would definitely come back :)
