Stayed the night before heading of on the Tongariro Crossing. Around a 20min drive to the finish carpark. The room was alright, nothing fancy. Greated by a number of blowflies in our room, which were easily brushed out a window. The restaurant on the premises was quite good, which was nice as there isn't a whole lot near by. Room...

As many others we stayed here as we were doing the Tangariro Crossing. We had one of the duplex chalets that were self contained. It is well worth being one of the first ones on the crossing during our trip we talked to several other people who complained about the crowds on the crossing being there ahead of everyone else...

It's great to be the first ones out on the Tongariro Trek, so this location is unbeatable. The accommodations are clean and serve the purpose. The front desk even loaned us a raincoat! Our only quibble: when you leave for the trek at 5:30 am wouldn't it be possible to offer SOMETHING for breakfast - even fruit and yogurt? After...

We rented a chalet--a duplex studio unit with good kitchenette. For the area, the choice was perfect. We were there to walk the Tangariro Crossing. In our sixties, we were taking no chances! Discovery Lodge offers the earliest shuttle (5:35) giving us extra time on the trail, AND the chance to walk ahead of all the other groups for a...

Located within the National Park, one of the main attractions for staying here was the availability of an early start shuttle bus run by Discovery (first bus at 5.35am) which gets you to the Tongariro Alpine start point by 6am. There are pick ups at the end of the walk every hour from 12.30pm, the last being at 4.30pm. We...

My friend and I wanted to do the Tongariro Crossing and after searching on Trip Advisor for decent accommodation in the area we chose the Discovery Lodge. We were not disappointed!! We stayed in a backpackers lodge with en-suite and when we arrived we had been upgraded to a larger room with a kitchenette. The rooms were absolutely fine and...

Discovery runs a shuttle bus to the start and from the finish of the famous Tongoriro Alpine Crossing, a 12 mile hike. I left of the bus in the morning, but was a couple of hours late for the pickup at the finish. Reason: I ran out of steam, hurt myself, and had to be helped down. A National Park...

After checking all accommodation options in the area we booked 2nts in a Studio Chalet. After reading some reviews of hot rooms we arrived with a fan. The room was a good size n very clean. The finishings reminded me of a Yotel we stayed in Gatwick Airport years ago. Very modern n functional. The bed was big n comfy....

I stayed for three nights on their campground. The communal facilities are excellent and the lodge facilities are available to everyone who stays there. The view of Tongariro National Park is stunning from the deck; something that is unique to this accommodation. The staff should all be trained, when people ask "....do you have WiFi?" to say " no sir...

I stayed here for two nights on 23/24 January 2015 in one of the bungalows. It slept 3 people, 1x double bunk bed and a single bed above. The room had some storage area. I had use of the communal kitchen, bathrooms and seated area. It was a very clean place. The bungalows are very basic, but if your after...
