A fantastic retreat from city life, ducks with ducklings tapping the French windows for food. This place is the nearest to utopia. The river, steam trains, wild life and a cottage with (I would give it 5*) everything you need. Loved it

Stopped for lunch as stayed in a cottage nearby. All had lunch and a drink. Lovely meals in a beautiful setting. Fresh produce and kids loved the milkshakes would recommend. Indoor and outdoor seating available lovely sunny day so we sat right by the river.

My husband & I visited for the second time this week for a 2 night break. Both times we stayed in the Boat Loft (which is couples only) which is fabulous & of a very high standard. There is everything you need, including robes & slippers plus flip flops for going out to the hot tub - oh yea the...

Firstly, the location is stunning. Right by the banks of the Esk with great views of the old steam trains passing by the other side of the river. The Willow Cottage was neat and tidy and clean. The furniture and beds were very comfortable. The owner was extremely kind and helpful. Our 7 year old was very unwell during our...

Many thanks for your review We have had lots of families with children staying in our cottages and many come back time and time again. Although I do appreciate that the stairs are steep, which is why it is mentioned on our website, there is no way that they are near vertical. Our 3 bedroom cottages have an extra bedroom...

what a find! We stayed in the boat loft for 3 nts. The accommodation is all upstairs and open plan. The kitchen is very well equipped if you want to cook, there is a cafe on site and pub food near by. The bed and the recliner sofas are the comfiest we've ever had. We had our own very private...

We booked a short weekend stay in Fuchsia Cottage and only regretted it wasn't for a longer period. The cottage was clean & functional and surprisingly roomy. The view was marvelous with the River Esk running past the hedge at the bottom of the garden and the NYM Steam Railway situated along the far bank. It's situated perfectly for exploring...

Yet again another relaxing holiday in a very clean, well equipped cottage. Situated away from all the hustle and bustle, at the side of the river Esk. Steam trains passing by, rowing boats for hire, an abundance of wildlife, 1/2 hour walk into Whitby. On site Cafe with plenty of choices.

This is the third time I have stayed here, both in the larger Willow cottage and twice in Clematis for two people. Absolutely no complaints, well furnished, well heated cottages with beautiful surroundings. Cannot wait to come back! Although an Autumn visit is not to be complained about, in spring/summer the wildlife are so active!
