Outside of the construction the property is gorgeous. We hope that you guys don't get too crowded or congested after completion of the additional buildings. My only complaint is that we had a difficult time getting a bottle opener for a quiet evening in our room.
The location is by far the best on West Bay, it is small resort at present and offers the best beach for swimming and snorkeling. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, the breakfast buffet though mostly the same each day, the made to order eggs are a special treat. You must try the banana bread!!! We stayed in the Ocean Front Bldg which was well worth the beautiful view of the stunning beach, also allowed easy access to the beach and pool. We dined on three separate occasions at the on property restaurant and all three dinners were excellent and a great value as well. The bed was comfortable but I would have preferred a more plush pillow top with some memory foam, the pillows were feather but flat. Though these are our personal preference, it did not mar our stay.
We came here from another resort nearby that was less expensive and I felt that since we are in Honduras we should try to stay at a more budget-level place (which you can find easily in West End). I was overridden by other family members - but didn’t end up regretting our stay at all. We had a 3-BR suite that was worth every penny. This resort really delivers value. We had 3 full bathrooms and a very well outfitted kitchen (coffee maker, huge fridge, blender!) which allowed us to save money by eating some meals at home, which my kids preferred anyway. Great balcony, super comfy beds etc and very close to the beach and pool. Breakfast was included and it was one of the best we’ve had. Unlimited, very well made lattes and cappuccino! Omelet station as well as a women hand-making fresh tortillas hot every morning!!! Served to your table right on the beach, with toes in the sand! The resort is big (and under construction) but as you will see as you explore West Bay it’s one of the prettiest, classiest, with a natural type setting, sand paths etc. Staff were fantastic and never-endingly helpful. Oh yes, the beach is great and you can snorkel all down West Bay our the front door, without paying for additional outings. So even though it’s a bit pricey, you’d pay double for this kind of luxury in the US. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Roatan.…
we loved this resort. the snorkeling is a+ and right off of the beach. You literally swim 50 feet and you are immersed. we look forward to returning. The staff was so friendly and nice. you are really at the end of the beach at this resort, and many people up stream walk the distance and turn around at the cliff wall on the south end of the beach at grand roatan. the tours provided for a fee are generally really nice. we loved the boat ride to see the mangroves up north, and then a brief visit to see the Garifuna vilage and some dancing - i would recommend going later in the day on Sunday to see the real magic. Our driver and host accompanied us on our stops. it was really nice to have some friendly staff alongside. The resort has so many black iguanas hanging around and they are really adorable. you feel like you are in a private villa. there are plenty of restaurants and small shopping venues nearby. we would definitely go back. some areas away from the resort get really packed when cruise ships debark their passengers but we didn't experience any of that. overall grand roatan is amazing. There was construction while we visited and it was not bothersome, but they are making changes to the area so get there while you can while it still seems moderately wild!…
Visited December 2019 for Christmas vacation. Resort is very nice with nice finishes and landscaping. Private location at the end of the beach within walking distance to lots of eating places and light shopping. Very nice pool and beach. Great snorkeling right out your front door. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the restaurant has a varied menu and good food. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and drink specials! Got a few sand flea bites that were bothersome so take your bug spray and use it.
