This is a rather quirky hotel which I feel would benefit from some updating. It is situated on the edge of Castelmola, a small village situated approximately 3Km above Taormina. The public areas are furnished with some rather bizarre objects including wooden confessionals, an old dentist's chair, a jukebox and some dried flower arrangements. The bedrooms are clean and spacious... More

This is a nice hotel in a very lovely setting. The room we had a wonderful view of Etna and was comfortable enough. However, there was very little storage..............one cupboard with about 6 hangers and a small shelf and 2 bedside cupboards. There was almost nowhere to put clothes and toiletries and the shower was extremely small. We didn't eat... More

Me and my husband stayed here for our honeymoon back in July 2008 for 2 weeks, have just found this website so thought i would write a review. I thought this was a lovely hotel, very romantic with the view of etna. We stayed in a garden suite which was beautiful, very clean, cleaned every day, lovely little garden to... More

Our week at Villa Sonia was a one of very mixed feelings; we loved the hotel's location with its wonderful view of Mount Etna. The pool was perfectly situated with sunloungers and towels in plentiful supply, the terrace ideal to sit out on in the evening. However, apart from Giuseppe and Adriana at Reception, both of whom were very efficient... More

We had only 3 nights in Villa Sonia but those were the very best we ever had on our trips around the world. The interor decorations and the hotell design has been put in place with a high degree of feeling. The view from all over the hotell over the vulcano Etna was fantastic. For example sitting by the pool... More

The service was absolutely perfect - no complaints whatsoever! The quality of the restaurant is more than upgradable. There is so much fresh food and fish on Sicily`s markets - and hardly any on the menue. As to sleeping - some nights I would have liked to go with a "lupara" and kill those damned barking dogs on the other... More

This is a wonderful hotel. The staff are friendly, the food is very good, the views and location superb. I would recommend it to anyone especially if looking for a tranquil holiday with the possibility of lots to do in nearby towns. Castelmola just up the hill is an absolute delight.

We had a fantastic time at Hotel Villa Sonia; in particular the staff who run the hotel were lovely - very pleasant, kind and helpful; we were well looked after. Our room was a good size with a decent bathroom and big terrace which had an amazing view of Etna. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Perfect place to stay! Staff are so friendly and the place is so relaxing. I highly recommend this hotel for so many things, the swimming pool i, the wonderful view from the sun loungers, of the volcano, and the location was ideal, an easy stroll to village. The restaurant is lovely with good food ... Good tasty fresh food, with... More

The hotel is located in Castlemola - just above Taormina. The location (not in Taormina) is not a problem at all as there is a very convinient public bus as well as hotel (free) transport provided to / back from Taormina and to a fantastic beach. Note - this is best solution as parking in taormina is very expensive and... More
