Stayed at the Western Star for work; while the rooms are typical western Queensland motel rooms; the big attraction is the home cooked meals. Huge country fare with steaks/schnitzels hanging off the plate! These can be served in room or in the lounge area at the pub. The pub itself has plenty of character and the service is friendly!

Stayed overnight in the motel section on our way to Longreach, as it was low season (Jan 17). Our greeting was warm, welcoming and friendly, our room was satisfactory and the a/c worked hard to cool it down. Due to the time of year there were an extraordinary amount of bush crickets a few of which were already residents luckily...

While visiting family in Quilpie we decided to pop out to Windorah for a visit. We stopped for lunch, meals where fantastic and quickly served. Well worth the drive. Staff where friendly and amenities where clean. Will definitely visit again when we are out this way again.

We stayed in Room 3 and were warm and comfortable. The share toilet and bathrooms were kept clean and complimentary tea/coffee was available. Staff were all friendly. Breakfast and dinner was available for purchase. Pretty good barista coffee was also available for purchase.

As group of 6 we had dinner at the Western Star hotel, our orders were varied but all agreed they were tasty, hot, the meats were tender and you certainly couldn't complain that they were small portions, quite the opposite. The menu was varied in its meats, plenty of vegetables or salad sides. a vegetarian option available too. The staff...

Spacious clean rooms with good air conditioning and facilities. I highly recommend the homemade Rissoles if you're looking for a delicious meal. Heading east out of Birdsville, the Western Star Hotel in Windorah was a welcome overnight stop.

Friendly hosts, good food, cold beer, clean rooms and amenities. It's great to have a yarn with the friendly locals who enhanced our outback experience and a great place to meet fellow travellers for tips on road conditions and highlights along the way.
