Visited here, haven't been for many years. Thought we would give it a try , new bistro. A few diners for lunch, and even more locals in for a drink. I opted for a burger, a big portion. My husband had the pie of the day which was pork and apple but with tinned peas. Much better places to eat...

Breakfast again excellent and Derek was very friendly and attentive, nothing too much trouble looking after our elderly parents patiently. The room was refurbished, the bathroom was fine and the two meals that I had were excellent. All the staff were...

Fantastic roast dinner. So much on the plate for under a tenner. The beef was plentiful and really tender. Well worth a visit. Great to be able to take our dog. Easy to park as well. We have been here before but it has had a refurb since our last visit.

Don't hesitate to stay, lovely quaint old coach house 17th century.Set in the village of Great Ayton the home of Captain James Cook. I took a short stroll round the village, a pie shop and old sweet shop still selling them out of glass jars by the quarter lb.

If you are looking for some modern, glamorous, 'posh' accommodation this is not the place for you! If you're looking for a cosy bedroom, exceptional food with lots of character, this is the place for you. Great Ayton is a charming village and the Royal Oak fits in perfectly, overlooking the village green and next to Petch's butchers ( best...

In the meantime they are clean, comfortable and priced accordingly. Most importantly, you have rated your whole experience, including our food...
