An awesome stopover in the town of Smithfield. Hosts were accommodating and friendly. Rooms were spacious and just what was needed. Gus helped with restaurant reservations and went the extra mile for us. Secure parking, good quality linen and comfortable beds. Thank you!

We had a wonderful overnight at Trading Places. The rooms were clean and full of character and the hosts most charming. We will certainly return. Smithfield has much to offer for an overnight stay and is most under rated.

Trading Places is the perfect spot to relax and unwind and our favourite spot to stay in Smithfield. We arrived quite late after a long road-trip, to immediately feel at peace and welcomed by Gus's friendly smile and warm hospitality. After a quiet drink with Gus in the beautiful evening light, we walked through the starlit streets to enjoy a...

Great hospitality from Gus, the owner, and a fantastic place to stay in Smithfield. The rooms are spacious, and great for couples or families travelling together. It is walking distance to town and the restaurants in the area.

We thoroughly enjoyed stopping over at this guest house, owned and run by Carmel And Gus. We'd certainly do so again. Really nice lodgings and really nice people. We felt welcome and were very comfortable. We could happily have stayed longer. Nice coffee in the morning too!

The houses are beautifully restored; the attention to detail makes for a comfortable stay; and it's truly pet-friendly . Refrigerator available for keeping travel food cool or frozen. Helpful owners who are very knowledgeable about the town and area, including places to eat

We arrived at our booked accommodation @18:00only to be told the room was not ready, so we went to look for alternate lodgings only to find the best spot in town! We chatted casually with Carmen and Gus who made us tea and coffee and made us feel at home. The room was fabulous!!!!

We travel frequently through this quaint village with its warm friendly residents, but have only in the past year decided to make it our overnight stop. This time we stayed 2 nights. What a pleasure! The rooms are comfortable with fine decor. The hosts attentive without being intrusive and our every need and more, was taken care of. Carmel suggested...

Anne W - thanks for your generous comments about Trading Places and the impromptu breakfast we shared! The drought has been heart-breaking for gardeners in this area (and a nightmare for farmers) and we wonder if we will ever restore the gardens to what they have been in the past. It's been great to get to know you and your...

As a family we have travelled through Smithfield for 15 years and never given it a second glance. I am a little sorry about that having been recommended to stay at Carmel and Gus's lovely accommodation. I was welcomed and made to feel at home. Carmel organised a lovely meal next door at Greg's place. She even escorted me over...
