Stayed here as our second destination on our trip to Costa Rica. After quite the trek to get there on unpaved roads, we arrived to this little quaint and very quiet lodge in Monteverde. The lodge itself is nice and has a cottage feel. The staff are very nice and can help you book tours if you haven't done so... More

A group of birders from Cape Town stayed here for 2 nights in March 2016. The accommodation was very good and breakfast on the veranda was excellent. We enjoyed watching birds come to the bird feeder close by. The lodge is close to some excellent places to go birding, including the Cloud Forest Reserve where it was pretty easy to... More

We spent two nights there and would not hesitate to return or recommend the lodge to any and every one!! While hard to find originally, as we drove ourselves, they are close to all activities yet removed so it is a quiet and secluded place for a very peaceful environment. The staff were helpful and friendly!! The landscape is beautifully... More

Warm welcome from the staff that can help you book tours or anything else you need. The place is well maintained, room was clean, towels and shower products are provided. The only downside is that it is far from the downtown area so having a car is a must. Also since it is in the Jungle, it is very windy... More

Beautiful suites set in the forest, yet near to the main building. Very friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast and they even provide coffee, tea and cookies each afternoon. The suites have hardwood floors, no air conditioning because it is not needed, although there was a fan in the bedroom if wanted. There was a balcony complete with a very comfortable... More

Ranking this hotel is a difficult enterprise. We were very satisfied in several key regards, but the hotel also left us disappointed in a few other ways. If you intend to stay here, you should understand that the lodge provides an experience that is akin to staying in a cabin in the woods. We didn't quite grasp this before our... More

We stayed here for two nights. The positives are the beautiful setting and gardens and for some rooms, spectacular views (ours looked out over the back of the lodge and kitchen roof). The room was OK, but remained spectacularly hot and humid late afternoon to about 3am. The problem was no mesh over the window so it was either heat... More

We travel to Monte Verde from Samara and checked in at the lodge. The town sits on a hill and is set up in a triangle. The lodge is about a 15 min walk to town or a 4 dollar taxi ride. Check in was easy and staff fluent in English. We stayed in maine lodge 2nd floor double room.... More

We stayed at 4 different places during our Costa Rica Adventure and this was our favorite hotel. Our room was gorgeous, large and had great views. The staff was excellent, friendly, helpful and full of suggestions. Breakfast was made to order and not buffet. Cala Lodge was excellent overall with no complaints. The location was a couple blocks off main... More
