We were a family of 4 staying in one room and it was pretty spacious. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and working. I liked that the town of Santa Elena was walking distance (about 3-4 Km) and that there were really good bakeries nearby. We took walks along the road and felt fairly safe even at night.... More

Dear Guest: We are very glad that you took a moment of your time to write us a review. Thank you very much. I would like to let you know that we do have wifi on the rooms but have been having problems with the internet service provider, since we are in the mountains sometimes the service drops but we... We were a little worried about this hotel because of some negative reviews, but we are so happy that we went ahead and stayed here anyway. We are a family of five with three kids between 8-13 years old. They gave us a gigantic room (302) with a loft with a queen bed, a main room with two king beds,... More

We were not sure after reading a few reviews here but disagree with any negative ones! The staff were so welcoming and friendly, and helpful with tours and local information. We received welcome drinks and were driven to our lodge as it's a short uphill walk with cases. Our lodge/room (4 person) was lovely with a walk in shower and... More

I found the staff at Heliconia to be absolutely top notch in addressing all of our problems and concerns, some of the best people I ran into in Costa Rica which is saying something since in general we had fantastic service in Costa Rica. With that said this hotel has some problems. As others have mentioned the rooms do have... More

Room 408 - Just fabulous views and saw lots of birds from our balcony. Room was actually like a little Swiss chalet with 2 stories (2 twin beds up the steep staircase). We were sharing a nice, comfortable King bed so had no need for the 2nd floor but it gave the room a 'vastness'. Agree with others whereas the... More

You will not get a proverbial 5 star hotel because you are not paying 5 star hotel prices. Our family enjoyed our stay, even though we normally stay at much more expensive hotels. The people working at the hotel were extremely nice and attentive. It is very low key, but clean and comfortable. We stayed at a hotel about 3... More

We stayed three nights here. The maid service was good with everything cleaned and beds made etc. Only complaint is that they didn't leave coffee or tea after the first night, but they provided it at the front desk when asked. A coffee pot was provided in the room, as well as a safe, but no fridge. The room didn't... More

While the room was large enough, and we did have a phone and a new television, the bedspreads looked very old and worn. The blanket was old and smelly. At first I thought the bathroom was clean until I went into the shower which was mouldy around the trim. The taps were loose. Our friends, were near the reception at... More

We were pretty unhappy about most things related to this hotel. First, they have outdoor jacuzzis but they're really like giant bathtubs you have to fill yourself and they look like they haven't been filled for 10 years. We weren't brave enough to do it. The towels in our room smelled like they had been washed in rancid milk, the... More
