Located about 1.5 hours from Rio Regua is a great place to begin or end a holiday. We spent 5 nights there in March. Our room was large andcomfortable and had a huge sun terrace. The lakeside location is stunning and there are a series of well marked trails which can be self guided or the lodge will arrange a...

We were met after disembarking our cruise ship in Rio de Janeiro by Alcenir, the driver for the lodge. The drive out to Regua was very pleasant in the modern, air-conditioned van. We even got a little birding in when Alcenir asked us if we wanted to go the short way or the long way to the lodge. We of...

A basic but comfortable lodge located southeast of Rio. The owner, Nick Locke, inherited this land from his family and is attempting to restore it to its natural state. He told us about his efforts and we have great admiration for his commitment. His wife Raquel is also charming asis his son Christopher, who also assisted us. The grounds are...

This Lodge is set in the most wonderful rain forest. There are easy to walk trails and longer trips available. Unless you are a really good birder I would recommend having a guide who can help find and identify all the forest birds (the water birds are relatively easy). The guides we had were all volunteers (not as expensive as...

We heard about this lodge from a friend who is involved with the Regua project. We were not disappointed! For visitors who are keen on birds it is a perfect place to stay, there are a lot of walks which you can do from the lodge, or transport can be arranged to travel further afield. There are guides who can...

We spent 3 nights here, in order to look for birds in the Atlantic rain forest, a very threatened ecosystem. We were fortunate to be given the best room in the lodge, which has a large balcony, enjoying great views. When we arrived the weather was very hot but a thunderstorm that nights heralded cooler weather, so the birds became...

My family's second visit to this Garden of Eden paradise! We loved it, and saw many amazing birds, caimans, caipibara, bats, frogs and had a face-to-face encounter with a smiling sloth!!! The food is great, guides are knowledgable and friendly. We will be returning.....

We stayed for 4 nights in July 2013 in a balcony room. The lodge is very comfortable with hot water in the bathroom from solar power. The view from the balcony is delightful. A buffet is served at lunch and dinner prepared by local ladies and is very tasty. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We saw many...

We spent 4 nights here at the beginning of June. It is a truly wonderful place to stay and what Nicholas and Raquel are doing is remarkable. We hired a car in Rio and drove here, which was easy. We had a guided walk in the forest and also a birding walk. We are not expert birders but saw many...
