What do you say when your mum asked you to go for an adventure to Pulau Tiga? You said ABSOLUTELY YES! An island that guaranteed a place of privacy due to only a few people visiting/staying here. One must not missed the opportunity to do volcano mud bath when in this island. The smell of the mud could be unbearable but it was an experience that would forever be in my heart. Unfortunately, it was sad to see Survivor Island wasn't even maintained due to the change of government. Such a waste of beautiful resources. On a sad note, during our stay here, there were family members of a missing person (believed to have drowned) still looking for him although he's been missing for 10 days. I really hope they will find closure and may his soul rest in peace🙏
The resort is starting to look it’s age but comfortable and clean. Sadly the beach is like almost all the beaches we saw, cover in plastic garbage.i did see hem cleaning in front of the resort but I think it is a 24/7 job. The mud volcano was a blast. No need to wear you shoes, there is a wooden boardwalk from the beach to the md pond. We were told they are going to be closing the resort soon, by still having day trips from the mainland. Shame.
A big disappointment. We were expecting the resort to be rustic, a little basic. However what we found was a dirty, badly maintained and unloved shabby "resort". The grounds are littered with buildings/verandas that perhaps were used in the past - the Island Bar, a BBQ area. These are now just falling to pieces. The bedrooms - we were in a superior room - was dirty. The bathroom was filthy - dirty taps covered in soap and toothpaste, dirty shower areas. The room was grimy - windows and screens were filthy and could not be opened, the pillows were Rick hard and the mattresses had seen better days. As for the toilets in the main restaurant area - this was disgusting. I don't mind basic, but the rooms and toilets should at least have been clean. On the plus side, the island itself is simply stunning- a real paradise with great snorkelling. That is no excuse however for the lack of cleanliness. …
We stayed here for one night as part of a trip around Borneo. The beach is beautiful but the resort itself is a little tired - we heard it is closing in a month which might explain this. We were in a superior room which was nice, but everything was slightly erratic. We had no lights in one room and the maintenance men tried to fix it, but ended up shattering a bulb over the room and then throwing it into the stream outside our room! The air con wasn’t great in one room and the toilet leaked which was a bit unpleasant. The actual setting was beautiful (if you closed your eyes to the rubbish floating in the stream). Loads of water monitors and monkeys and the most beautiful butterflies. We didn’t find the staff particularly welcoming. We hired a kayak and weren’t told where to go to snorkel despite asking and then there was no one around on our return (I found this unsafe as no staff knew where we were!). We did enjoy the beach and it was a nice place to relax. Could I recommend it honestly to others - no. We stayed in much nicer places on our tour…
We arrived and were met by the very welcoming staff. The island is beautiful, with monitor lizards and macaques all over. The cabins have seen better days. The beds were comfortable but the bathroom is little more that a toilet and a spicket of cold running water overhead. The water heater was long broken. The electricity is only on certain times of the day, and all night. The room is stifling and dark durning the day. The food was good and plentiful. The mud volcano was fantastic but it is true that you have to walk barefoot on a boardwalk when returning. This activity is not for everyone. Bring a plastic bag to keep your close mud free on way back. Snorkeling trip and snake island is as good. There are a lot of mosquitos on the island so bring repellent.
Felt like had the whole island to ourselves. Went with a group and stayed 1 night at the resort. Food was plentiful and a wide choice. Rooms were ok but the beach setting was idyllic. Staff were friendly and took an optional excursion to Snake Island and to go snorkelling. Watch out for the monkeys on the island. Mud volcano visit was fun too!
Known as the Survivor Island due to the 1st filming was done here. I travel with a group of friends, its a perfect place for us as we were the only group that stayed-in the island during the weekend. Mud spa is about 1.2km distance from the resort, other water activities such as kayaking & snorkeling is available (coral is less 500m from the shore!). You can also ask for volley ball from the staff for beach volleyball activity. Food was good (decent for a night stay in a island ), resort personnel were very warm & friendly. Karaoke room is available (but please bring your own mp4..we've left some songs in the laptop for others to use next time :p) Thus, the room needed some uplifting to commensurate with the pricey room charge, water pressure in the room is week if everyone on shower at around the same time. Power supply is limit to a certain hours of time.…
This “resort” is terrible. We stayed with a group of travellers. Our room hadn’t been cleaned properly, there was still a number two in the toilet. Others rooms sheets hadn’t been changed. The service was ok when the day trippers were on the island but once they left it was almost like we were a nuisance to the staff, bar two staff members. No customer service. Cold buffets served of what should have been hot food. The rooms are decrepit and the bathrooms terrible. The beach and resort had rubbish strewn about. There is no boat left on the resort for travel back to the mainland if required for emergency and the rangers down the way don’t have one readily available either. I can’t understand for a second how they can charge the price they do per night. The mud pit is not worth the visit. Snorkelling trip was really nice but there are much better options to access snorkelling around Borneo. …
Island where Survivor was filmed. Great island to relax on the beach and enjoy the ocean. Friendly personnel, and funny to go to the mud volcano. Maximum stay I would recommend is 3 days. Snorkeling is very good, with clear view and a lot of sea life.
We stayed here as a family of 4 for a night after a 12 night tour of Borneo. The food was good, the staff friendly, the scenery gorgeous. Yes, the electricity is rationed but it is mostly off through times of the day when you wouldn't normally be in your room, keeping the fridge door shut will keep it's contents cold and the electricity is on overnight for the ac. The mud pool was an experience that I'm glad I did but wouldn't do a second time as there is no steps etc to help less flexible people get out (also some sort of roof system wouldn't go amiss to stop twigs and leaves being in the mud). After leaving the mud pool washing off in the sea was wonderful, especially as the sea was warm to wade into! All in all the place is slightly rough around the edges but there are worse places to spend 24 hours.…
