We booked into a family villa, which was about RM750 per night for 2 nights. Check in was fast and simple same goes to the buggy service. The working team was accomondating and welcoming. Thus, upon check into our room, we had some issue and i called the reception for further assistance. To our amazement, the Manager Mr Bazmeer came knocking our door to assist us on the issue and he tried his very best to solve the problem. Within 10 mins the problem was resolved. Thank you Mr Bazmeer for your efficient customer service and care. We appreciate all your hard word and effort in trying your best to render your best possible service and hospitality for all your guests. We are indeed enjoying our stay now and will continue to support this resort as it has a very beautiful sunset view and a good hideout from the hustle and bustle of our norm daily city life 😂

My husband and I decided to do a short post-Christmas getaway at Avani for some R&R at the tail-end of our year-end break before returning to work. We stayed at room 071 from 28/12/20 to 31/12/20. We booked directly on the hotel’s website, taking advantage of the “pay-for-2-nights-and-stay-for-3-nights” promotion, which we thought was a good deal. Our 90-minute journey there from Petaling Jaya was quite pleasant and smooth. We were even granted an early check-in at 10am. We arrived a little later, though, and checked-in at around 12.30pm. The check-in process was rather quick and smooth, even considering the busy lobby area at that time. The staff were generally very friendly and courteous. Even the General Manager, Mr. Yogeswaran, could be seen mingling with guests, personally attending to their needs and even helping them with their luggage. However, we experienced a rather unpleasant episode upon entering our room. What was supposed to be a start of a great holiday was marred by the condition of our room. We were quite taken aback to find the room had not been properly cleaned and turned-over following the departure of the previous guests. The bed was made (albeit with a few stains on the sheets) and the bath towels seemed to be replaced, but that was about all that seemed to be done. Just to give a few examples of the condition of the room: The room flooring and carpet were dusty and dirty. The surfaces (i.e. tables, bedside stands, desks, sofa upholstery etc.) had obviously not been cleaned or at least wiped down, with clearly visible dirt and stains. The balcony / deck floor and table were littered with breakfast cereal (Koko Krunch). There was an in-room-dining tray outside the front door with satay sticks on it that had not been cleared. There were also no cups at the pantry cupboard and there were no face towels in the bathroom. We are usually not very fussy or picky guests at hotels, but we found this condition of our room to be rather appalling, especially at a time when Covid-19 infections are on the rise, and hygiene and cleanliness are matters of paramount importance. If there was this much uncleanliness that was visible, we could only imagine what was not. We immediately made a call from the room phone to housekeeping to have our room cleaned and made up (this was at about 12.40pm). I even personally reported the matter to the front desk, and explained the situation to them. They seemed quite responsive and courteous and said that they would send someone to the room to clean it up. However, when explaining the Koko Krunch littering in the balcony, one of the front desk staff was maybe a little too overly responsive and remarked, “oh Koko Krunch? That’s my favourite!” I understand this was meant to be lighthearted and in jest, but considering the circumstances, we didn’t think it was very appropriate. Anyway, after two hours, nobody had come to clean our room. At 2.50pm, we made another call from the room, during which we were told that they would “expedite” the matter. However, there was still no response for another two hours. It wasn’t until we made a third (and understandably more exasperated) call from our room at 4.50pm that a team of three housekeeping staff scurried to our room. We decided to leave them to clean and turn over the room and went out for a short walk. We were barely gone for 10 minutes when we returned to the room to check on the progress, only to find that the staff were not there anymore and not much had been done. They had only changed the bedsheets (which we requested) and done a very cursory job at best in wiping and mopping. Although we had told them about it, the face towels and cups were still not given. The Koko Krunch was still on the balcony floor (when we found the housekeeping staff later, they said they didn’t clean the balcony as it was wet and drizzling, and would return once the rain stopped – but they never came back.) As we were already quite embittered, we decided to take matters into our own hands and did the rest of the cleaning (yes, even the Koko Krunch) ourselves, and even wiped down the surfaces ourselves with anti-bacterial wet wipes, just to be safe. However, only in the subsequent days when they came in to make up the room and do the routine cleaning etc, did they do a satisfactory job, and even put in new face towels and cups, although it shouldn’t have taken more than a day for that. We are not sure why this happened. Maybe it was because the hotel was short-staffed. Maybe it was because it was a very busy period for the hotel. Or maybe it was something else entirely that we may not be aware about or understand. Or, it could be a combination of these factors. Whatever it was, we do understand that these things can and do happen. But to allow paying guests to wait desperately for more than four hours to have their room properly cleaned and turned over (and even then not cleaned properly) is, by any standards, unacceptable. This experience was the last thing that we would expect from a resort of Avani’s caliber, to say the least. However, we decided to not let this episode bother us and chose to move on and enjoy the rest of our holiday. That being said, there were many plus points too about our stay. The Superior Room in which we stayed was large and very spacious with a king bed. It was also well appointed and beautifully designed and decorated, striking the right balance between rustic charm and modern sophistication. We could tell that a lot of planning had gone into the design and decor of the room, with even strategic lighting to add to the aesthetics. The interactive TV and entertainment system was very user-friendly with so many movies-on-demand to choose from, including some of the most current and blockbuster titles, all at no extra cost. The deck / balcony was the perfect place to while away the time, whether it was watching the sunrise / sunset sky, spending a lazy afternoon or enjoying a cool, tranquil and idyllic nights, with the water below shimmering under the light of the full moon. The breakfast spread at the Bila-bila restaurant was just okay, we thought – quite standard. It was not great, but not bad either, although we did notice flies around the tables (even indoors) which once again, reflects poorly on hygiene and cleanliness. The in-room dining which we ordered one afternoon for lunch (mamak mee and a club sandwich) was alright too. For our dinners on the first two nights, we ventured into the nearby town of Sungai Pelek which is about a 10-minute drive away, which had a few good eateries. However, on the last night of our stay, we decided to try the buffet dinner at the beachside Sepoi-sepoi restaurant at the resort, which was quite enjoyable. We especially liked the barbeque section which featured a good offering of mouthwatering barbecued meats (lamb and beef) and seafood (fish and prawns). Yum! We found the staff at the resort to be quite helpful and friendly. We would especially like to commend all the boys running the buggy service within the resort and the shuttle vans to/from the parking lot. If one wasn’t available immediately, we did not have to wait longer than a few minutes for one to arrive. We would also recommend skipping the buggies altogether on at least one or two occasions and just taking a nice stroll to take in and enjoy this lovely resort and coastal panorama. Overall, Avani is a good place for couples, families and even groups of friends looking for a quick getaway. However, that little experience with the room on the first day left us with a bad first impression. We’ve past that now. However, many other guests may not be as forgiving. What we truly felt was that this place really has so much more potential that it can certainly live up to with just a little more effort and initiative. Just that little bit that could possibly take this place from being a good place to being a great one! Would we come back? Certainly, we would (in fact, we were considering coming back in May / June around our anniversary). And when we do come back, we do look forward to giving a 5-star rating then! A gem resort, love the ambiance and all staff are very friendly and helpful. During check in, I was attended by Gashturi. She was attentive and very helpful in answering all my questions. My son loves the fire show dance. The beach is clean and the sand is nice to step on. It was a much needed getaway and we feel like we are at a very exclusive resort. Thank you Avani for your hospitality. We hope to come back! PS: Just a suggestion, since most of your guests are family, hope you can consider adding cereals and milk as your buffet breakfast options.

For us, this short trip were very wonderful and we really love it stay at here along our staycation. All the service that provided were very good especially Mr.Anuar, the buggy driver that entertain us very well from the check in, candle light dinner and until we check out in the other next day. He always smile and enjoy his work and making us like a family. The manager also really helpful where he help me to arrange the candle light dinner although i request very last minute but he manage to make it happen. Thank you so much to everyone staff members Avani Gold Coast Sepang. You all did your jobs very well!!! Keep it up this good kind of work ethics....insyaAlah we will repeat it in the future.
