Bias alert: we have a points membership with the Villa Del Palmar group of resorts, AND, I retired after a career in facilities maintenance management.

We haven't been here in a few years and my wife commented: The place looked "tired". It appeared that the annual maintenance assessment, was not being fully directed towards maintenance. There seemed to be a lot of minor maintenance items rather than the polished facilities we enjoyed during previous visits.

We like to sleep with the windows open so it was a surprise to be awakened EVERY day about 6am by the clatter of large bins being pushed around the pool and restaurant areas. The carts sounded like they had metal shod wheels that clacked at each line in the tile or concrete surface, like crossing a checkerboard of grids. Soft Rubber wheels would help minimize this noise. I don't know why the carts couldn't be pre-staged the night before.

The premier restaurant is: Don Patron. Surprisingly, the dinner menu never changed during our 7 night stay. The prospect of having the same limited entrees day after day encouraged us to travel off-resort for dinner. The management menu decisions hurt the quality image the resort strives to project.

Apparently there is a monthly insect spraying contract. The vendor's team arrived unannounced and informed us and our guests that we had to be there during the spraying. We were leaving so they said they would come back, but they never did. Why isn't management scheduling the spraying when the unit is unoccupied?

The ice cream stand ran out of cones - again. This is the second vacation where it appears management is trying to under order the cones rather than have some additional cones available. Yes, the subject appears minor but it is probably an indication of underlying inventory and maintenance management that is no longer working efficiently.

All is not negative, the employees are uniformly friendly and helpful. Kudos to IRMA, our housekeeper for room 2502.

We used the Spa Services and noted that, while service was excellent, the communication was sometimes accomplished only with gestures. A laminated card(s) with multiple languages would help the employee to clarify what next step(s) the client should take.

It would be nice if paper recycling bins were available in the room.

Lastly, on the day of checkout, our room keys were disabled BEFORE checkout time. Luckily, housekeeping staff were working nearby and opened our door so we could retrieve our luggage.

We booked a one bedroom suite for two weeks at Villa del Palmar Flamingos. We had a great stay. Definitely fewer people in Nuevo and Bucerias this season, which was nice for those of us who chose to travel.
We had a great breakfast every morning on property. They had the buffet set up and were reminding guests to wear a mask and use sanitizer while going through buffet line.
We got our rapid COVID tests done onsite for $30 and were given a $30 resort credit to fully offset the cost. We appreciated the ease of doing it right here by appointment.
Wifi was also complimentary.
Special shout out to Regee at the pool for being a good ambassador for the hotel. He was always around with a cheerful hola or to help with an umbrella.
We aren’t members but will definitely be back soon.

My friend and I had a girls getaway to Villa del Palmar flamingos in October and what can I say, the service and hotel was excellent. Everything from the food, hotel staff and On cleanliness of the hotel was on point. Upon arrival we were surprised by Sarah Chayba the club manager of a room upgrade that we were delighted to receive. We were also welcomed by a bottle of wine that we were not expecting an greatly enjoyed. Sarah was available for what ever we needed such as reservations in town, or at the hotel. Sarah always made it a point to check in to see if everything had gone well with our dinners, trips into town, or excursions. You can really tell that she goes above and beyond her duties and cares about her guests. One of the reasons that I continue to go back to Villa del Palmar hotels especially now during the pandemic is because at all times, the staff are wearing facemasks when speaking with guests and in all public areas you have hand sanitizers located all throughout the hotel and in your rooms. They make it a point to make their guests feel safe and at home, and welcome .
Also, the transportation arranged by the hotel is always on time, clean, and excellent. I also believe the prices of the hotel to be quite reasonable and the food outstanding. If you get a chance to visit their sister hotel right next door Villa La estancia and go to La Casona, I highly recommend. Great food and atmosphere and our waiter Edgar did a great job explaining the menu and was always very attentive. One of the best parts about La Casona I must say was the pianist who played very lovely songs throughout the evening and was a pleasure to hear over dinner.
Also, also great location and if you have the time go to the Tatawari Spa, I highly recommend it.

Pros:
Staff are generally nice and helpful
Resort is fair; could use room updates
Location is good - beach front
Grounds are well cared for
Safe, secure, sanitary

Cons:
Resort's main focus is new time share tours and memberships
(I'm a regretful time share member; this was our first visit) - Pressure to attend members meeting when you just want to vacation
You have to sign a "bill" for any food/bev every time, even with an all inclusive package/wristband
Only one bar on resort (in lobby)
Limited restaurants open; closes early
Food is fair; buffet due to rainy days
Breakfast is good. Italian place is good
Limited things to do when rainy; not a lot of seating in lobby
Overcharged $$$ at time of check out ($600); "accident"

Good location, but not worth going back, especially for the pricey but mediocre food all inclusive package. I get all inclusive so I don't have to see a bill every time. This place is focused on new time share business.
Good local food in town, authentic, cheap, safe - Taco Junior.

We've been coming here for well over 10 years with family, and have been members, but every year, it just gets worse. Today for example marks the 3rd time since we've been on this trip that we cannot get towels. Furthermore, the hotels policy on people saving seats at the pool is awful. People come out at 6am, toss down a towel and a book on a seat, and never return. The hotel does nothing about this, and as such, you simply cannot find a seat.

The food has gone down hill as well, and they charge more than $115 USD for a single lobster that's ~$20-30 USD at most beach restaurants around (which taste better). In fact the first meal we had here was terrible. Fish (red snapper) was not cooked well at all.

The service at the pool (if you can find it) takes forever in many cases.

And, don't get me started with the timeshare BS. They push you into an "members update", which is a hard sell for hours on why you should spend north of $100k because (as they've admitted), they've oversold the units here, and it'll only get more difficult to get a room in the future.

When talking to other patrons here, the feelings are pretty universal. Lots of people complaining. Sadly, the management doesn't care.

At this point, I absolutely cannot recommend this place. Not being able to get a beach towel, pool chair, decent meal, are not acceptable. These are basic things you expect. And if they fall short with these very basic things, consider how everything else is handled.

This resort was quality made. Everything from the tile on the floor to the furniture in the room was of high-quality material. The wait staff at El Patron for breakfast were exceptionally polite and helpful. Fernando, Jose, Miguel, Carolina and Xochitlh Provided spectacular service for our entire visit. The resort was clean and I often saw the staff sanitizing the furniture and the common areas. Just a few steps to the beach, the chairs were always maintained the sand groomed and the staff ready and anxious to bring an ice cold drink as you sit in Bask in the sun.

I booked 3 rooms for 9 people in May for us to visit this resort. Went to the website, called the phone number, paid a deposit was was told I was confirmed for our dates. Arrive into Mexico, take the transportation and arrive at the resort to find out they don't have rooms for us. We had been traveling since 5am with little kids and to hear at 2PM we don't have rooms in a foreign country is not ok. They said they had 2 rooms next door at Estancia, but not enough for our whole party of 9 to stay together. They offered to send us to Villa del Palmar Puerto Vallarta. Another group of people in the lobby were in our same boat, they had 15 people without rooms. After an hour of discussion we had to make the decision to go to Puerto Vallarta (kids are starving and just want to get into the pool). We had to take a 25 minute taxi ride back past where we had come from by the airport. Upon arrival at Villa del Palmar Puerto Vallarta my heart sank. We paid a premium for Flamingos and the quality of hotel was 2 star at best. Rooms were still not ready (it was now 5pm). We were given a spa credit and 20% off (clearly not enough off, as this hotel was not what we paid for). We tried to make the best of it, we tried. The pools at Puerto Vallarta were all the same depth, so our 7 year old could not touch at the bottom of any pool. Our rooms were decorated like a Barbie Beach Malibu cartoon. The first night we had NO A/C and the fan in the room sounded like a machine gun all night as it cranked back and forth. NO HOT WATER. Maintenance came up and said, sorry, your room doesn't have hot water (WHAT?!) Little to NO water pressure of the cold water showers we were forced to take. After our first night we had to check out. We found another resort and left as fast as we could. I was told I booked through a 3rd party site (I went to their website and called the # on THIER website). If you book at Flamingos, I hope they have rooms for you. We weren't that fortunate. We asked the manager to give us a letter stating what happened so we can dispute charges. Attached is what they gave us. When asked why they didn't call us before to let us know, they claimed they didn't know how to contact me....right, but they sure knew how to charge my credit card on file.

First. A special shout out to some of the many employees who made our vacation great. Restaurant manager Alejandro, front desk umberto and Adan, and guest services Martha and margarita. Thank you so very much for your services. The resort is fortunate to have you work here.

The property is beautiful and immaculately clean. Employees are constantly raking, cutting and sweeping and cleaning and they always greet you w a smile and their hand over their hearts to show appreciation.

Beach has plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Never a problem. The pool chairs fill up mid to late morning but can always find one or two.

Food is plentiful and good. We ate several times outdoors at the Italian restaurant and were never disappointed with the food service or sunset.

The area around the hotel is very safe. I walked an hour each morning passing other hotels and always felt safe. Cabs are plenty and safe. And cheap. Great accessibility to big supermarket and dozens of wonderful restaurants near by in bucerias.

Tons of daily activities and many big nighty banquets shows and occasional movie.

We are members and have been visiting for more than ten years. Go there and enjoy.

Overall we give this place 5 out of 5 because the vast majority of the staff really made their best effort at keeping guests happy and the amenities were many and really good for families. This is definitely a family place and we loved that because we have a 3.5yo. A large pool with shallow entry points and not too deep. Restaurants near the pool with a variety of quality food. Plenty of towels, balls, boards and boats to rent. An easily accessible and well maintained beach with beach chairs, and a fairly calm surf. And a lot of staff always at hand to help with food orders, towels and other assistance. Our favorite staffs were the “bellboys” who were always there to help with more than bags, for example: getting a taxi. Our favorite was Mr Antonio. But the pool waiters were also very helpful and friendly. Our room had a nice small kitchen, it was clean and spacious with hot water always available. Also, the place would be quiet after 9pm, which is very important for families with kids. They also have a nice indoor kids playroom with a small daycare if you need that kind of thing. Our only complaints? They do try hard (a little too hard) at selling you a membership (timeshare?) but they do stop after a few tries. Another imperfection would be the knocking on your door too late at night. They mean well though. They either want to offer you free sweet treats or check if you want your room cleaned or need any towels. We mostly liked the attention. The cleaning staff was super nice and very good at their work. But we did have to ask them to not knock or come into our room too late. Also, they do not offer free WiFi and the one they sell is about $10 per day. Overall we had a great experience though. So we definitely would recommend this place to any families with kids. It is only borderline ok for teenagers, and young singles in the 20s or early 30s might be bored here since it’s not a party place. I would recommend to the owner to add more shows for kids and offer more affordable WiFi since parents with kids really find this useful. The family demographic is working for the place!

This was our first time going Non-All-Inclusive. We only stayed for a week and wished for at least another 3+ days. We had a great time. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. Josefina did a great job daily with our room. Our accommodations were gorgeous. We had a one bedroom with studio lock off, (2 bedroom). Full size kitchen/living room and huge balcony. The resort is beautiful, huge pool and a very short walk to the beach @ 250 feet from our room ( most of the rooms are set up this way.) You can wake up to hearing the waves crash against the shore. 2 minor reasons for the 4.5/5. No Lazy River and only a couple of good restaurants to choose from. That being said, walk the beach to Bucerías (@1 km) and so many wonderful restaurants, street markets and vendors to visit. Most full meals were under $20 USd. Very easy to get around. You can take bus/cab or Uber to Any of the locations around and the staff will provide you with the written rates so no surprises. A short cab ride to the Mega (75 pesos) will get you Groceries/Liquor and any items you forgot. The resort has a Market on site as well that is reasonably priced. We went in Feb and could see whales and dolphins from our Balcony. The Beaches in Mexico are Federal property which means there are Souvenir sellers that walk up and down the beach. None on actual resort property though and they are friendly and courteous enough but after a week it gets a little tiring.
We will Definitely come back to this resort.

Dear guest, Thank you for such a nice review and for your feedback regarding the facilities and the professional service you experienced while been at Villa del Palmar Flamingos Riviera Nayarit. We appreciate the kindness of specifying the reason for your rating of 4 Stars instead of 5; thank you!! I am sure that your feedback will serve as an encouragement to our team, as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. Your comments about the restaurants are very useful, especially because there are plans for a major remodel in the following two years. Extraordinary that has taken advantage to explore the environment; that has walked along the beach to come to Bucerías, our neighboring village; a picturesque seaside village which also has a variety of seafood restaurants as well as a market of crafts very typical of this area of the state of Nayarit. What a nice also that you share in this platform that you have had the opportunity to enjoy the passage of whales and dolphins through our bay from your balcony. Our divine nature! Thank you again for allowing you to enjoy of this extraordinary experience; we are looking forward to having you back and make every effort to exceed again your expectations. All meals charged to your room and they will add normally a 15% tip, you can add more if you like. You should get a receipt after every meal after you sign the bill you keep a copy. You pay at checkout and they normally give you a statement the night before checkout but you can request a statement as often as you like I guess. Each resort adds a daily resort fee, tips and or environmental fees depending on the resort and location, often state mandated in addition to the general daily tip, depending on room size so higher for larger units and may range from $4 to $10 daily but that can change of course. Hope this helps!

Is there a kids pool with slide?

There is no kids pool and none of the pools have a slide. They are pretty kid friendly. The pools have shallow sections of about 12” or less deep and a splash pad area with fountains.

Yes, you can eat in the restaurants at the resort. They are typically charged to your room. it is about a 40 min walk to Bucerias. Go early to avoid the heat. A cab is about 150 pesos for up to 4 people one way.
