On one hand Aloegrove is a lodge with a spectacular view, and spacious bungalows with huge comfort and well equipped, on top bathtubs overviewing the plains, on the other hand it feels really private and comfortable. Ivy & Johann, the owners, are present quietly in the background to make one's stay unforgettable, and if one wishes, their hospitality is generously shared.

We stayed at Aloegrove for two nights with two couples. On arrival, we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown to our very spacious rooms with Aircon and fan, two double beds, a fully equipped kitchen with Braai, large fridge, absolutely everything anyone could ask for, very large bathrooms, all very rustic and befitting the surroundings. The location on top of a hill makes for a wonderful breeze and gorgeous sunsets and sunrise. We spent the afternoon by the pool and participated in a game drive with Ivy and Johan, the lodge owners. This included feeding the resident cheetah, leopard and lion and was most enjoyable. There is a wonderful variety of antilopes to be seen, at least 14 giraffes and other animals, we even saw a python on the second evening. On the first morning, we went to the CCF, which Johan arranged for us. This meant we could take the short cut over Johan's land, which was great. At breakfast time, there was Yoghurt and fruit, cereal, toast, English breakfast options, eggs any way you want them, toast, jam, etc. In the afternoon we were offered coffee/tea and cake and the evening meal was an absolutely fantastic three course meal. Both Ivy and Johan are very warm and friendly people and made us feel exceptionally welcome. Johan took a lot of time to explain things to us and answer all our questions regarding his farm and the animals. We would like to say a huge thank you to this wonderful family and their very friendly and dedicated team, a most relaxing and interesting couple of days. I hope we can come back one day.

Great family visit over 2 days. Excellent location on a small hill above the plane. Pretty view from every angle. There were lots of animals that wandered around that you could see off of the balcony: giraffe, wildebeest, kudu, dik-dik, steenboo, springbok. The food was very good, with lots ot fresh bread, meat and vegetables. There is an excursion around the property with the owner to look at the animals he keeps which includes cheetah, lion and leopar, which was very personal and a real highlight. The staff helped with the luggage when we came and went away. Overall very friendly and comfortable visit, good place for a first couple of nights in Namibia.

During a trip to Namibia where we combined camping with lodge stays, our stay at Aloegrove was one of our favorites. We stayed there because it's close to CCF (they have a private road you can take all the way to CCF). However, the host's evening tour to see their leopard, lion, cheetah was more exciting than anything we saw at CCF. Don't get me wrong, the visit to CCF is still worth it to support their cause. Aloegrove was much more personal. Their lodge sits high on a hill where you can view Waterberg Plateau. It was also one of the few rooms we stayed in that had a heater. The property is massive and you can hike it alone if you're so inclined. I hiked 17 km one day and encoutered warthog, large groups of giraffe, honey badger, and numerous antelope. At the time we visited, there were about 60 giraffe on the property. The owner was cooking some of the best food we had on the trip. The game steaks from their ranch were the best we tasted. The owners went out of their way to see if our experience with a damaged rental car (occurred earlier in the trip) was expected and normal operating procedure. I can tell the owners are busy and working hard, but they love the land, the animals, and enjoy guests who are excited to be there.

Upon arrival we were welcomed in a friendly, helpful way. We had the pleasure of staying in a beautiful room with an amazing view. Management was also extremely friendly and humble. We had an opportunity to see the lion and cheetah feeding, it was a exhilarating experience. We will definitely want to go visit again.
