We came across this fun feature one evening after dinner. Needless to say when my wife saw several other people walking barefoot across the 'Mirror' she took off her shoes and joined them. She said the water was warm no doubt because it had been a warm sunny day.

Only 20 years old yet is the most-photographed site in Bordeaux and is listed as a contemporary World Heritage Site by Unesco. It's amazing to see everything around you reflected on the ground. It is an Attraction that amuses young and old alike. Easy to get there: there is a tram stop right across the street. Warning: in winter, the Water Mirror is in maintenance.

The Water-Mirror is a very popular tourist site. It's the #1 photographed location in Bordeaux. What you see here is a large, stone-paved surface with a very, very shallow covering of water. This turns the whole thing into a mirror-like surface. In the right conditions it reflects the clouds, the sky, and a mirror-perfect reflection of the Place de la Bourse and its surrounding architecture. It makes a great photo. However you can't count on it. It all depends on when you are there and what the weather is doing. It’s no good at all if it is windy. We had a couple of days in Bordeaux but the days were overcast and there was always a breeze rippling across the water which meant that we never saw the reflection. Even with the right conditions, it would be hard to recreate the perfect shot because kids are running and splashing through the water. The water is only a couple of centimetres deep, so there is a fun effect, making it look as if you are walking on water.

Amazing focal point in the heart of Bordeaux. It is very busy area with lots of people wanting to take a picture of the stunning view. We managed to get a great day with good conditions. Must see if you're in the area.

This is the large reflection pool and shallow body of water situated along the Garonne River and quay just in front of Place de la Bourse. It was opened in 2006 and is considered the largest reflection pool attraction of its kind in the world. This landmark place to visit in Bordeaux affords visitors with beautiful reflection views of Place de la Bourse which can be enjoyed day and night. It is also a spot for children to play and enjoy time playing in the shallow (2cm) pool. We passed by a few times during our recent visit to Bordeaux. At times there were spray features occurring, at other times the pool was calm and still, offering a fairly remarkable reflection of the elegant buildings of the square in front. Quite charming and well worth making time.
