    Charming walks
Lovely shops, charming strolls around to see the neighbourhood. Great restaurants and places to eat. Easy to walk out and hop on a tram or bus to go elsewhere in the city. We stopped in the mechanical toy store with our kids and they loved it - spent quite a while playing with toys there.

The Jordaan is a charming neighborhood in Amsterdam with picturesque canals, historic buildings, and a lively local vibe. Highlights include the Noordermarkt, Anne Frank House, and numerous cafes and art galleries. Don’t miss the Dutch apple pie and local cheeses. A must-visit for its beauty, history, and culture.

    Upscale, Charming, Quiet
This is the cool neighborhood, a great place to stay in a hotel or to live. Charming canal houses and some very good restaurants. It is clean and safe and a bit away from the honky tonk areas that are clogged with tourists. Come and take a stroll, have a coffee.

    Lovely stroll
While exploring Amsterdam by use of a hop-on-hop-off bus and boat, it was easy to get to a number of places to explore on foot. The Jordaan neighborhood was very beautiful, and we were able to explore many streets. As other reviewers have said, it is much quieter than Amsterdam city center, and it is even a little more picturesque. We were lucky to be there on a clear, sunny day with no agenda. Great walk.

Best to explore if you need quiet
Although this was the best spot in the central Amsterdam, I still was not as impressed as in Leiden. The worst are cars parked along the canals. But if you're there for the first time, visit the Jordaan: it's quiet, clean and cozy.

    Must-Visit Neighborhood in Amsterdam
The Jordaan is a beautiful and charming part of Amsterdam. With its picturesque canals, historic buildings, and cozy cafes, it offers a true local experience. Wandering the narrow streets and discovering hidden courtyards was a highlight of my trip. The neighborhood has great shops, markets, and delicious food options. It's a perfect spot to explore and enjoy the city's authentic vibe.

  • Red Light District Hotels
Amsterdam’s De Wallen area is home to one of the world’s most famous red light districts. Take a stroll to soak up the rousing yet beautiful lights, or visit the Red Lights Secrets Museum to learn more about Amsterdam’s sex work profession. The district is also known for its trendy coffee shops, bars, and clubs. The best time to see the district is in the early evening or at night, when the lights begin to illuminate the narrow streets. The area is safe, but it can get very busy, and taking photos or videos of workers is illegal. – Tripadvisor

  • Royal Palace Amsterdam Hotels
The Royal Palace Amsterdam is in use by the Dutch Royal House. Most of the year, the Royal Palace is alsof open for visitors. You are welcome to discover the rich history and interior of this magnificent building in the heart of Amsterdam. Visitors are welcome to discover the building's rich past and legacies left by it's successive occupants - as Amsterdam's Town Hall for 150 years, the French Royal and Imperial Palace for 5 years and the Palace of the House of Orange for the past two centuries. The Royal Palace was built in the seventeenth century as the Town Hall of Amsterdam, after a design by Jacob van Campen. It's paintings and sculptures were made by some of the most distinguished artists of the time and allude to the city's influence and prosperity in the Dutch Golden Age. In 1808 Louis Napoleon, brother of the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, became King of Holland and converted the Town Hall into a Palace. The superb collection of Empire furniture, clocks and chandeliers date from that period. The collection of Empire furniture is one of the best preserved and most complete collections in the world. The rooms in the Palace are decorated with artworks from the collection of the House of Orange-Nassau Historic Collections Trust. Many paintings show the various members of the family of Orange-Nassau
