    Great little tourist spot
I always love a quirky tourist spot and this is great. You can stand at the most Southern part of the USA. There was a little queue to get a photo opportunity but the line went down quickly and everyone in line helped each other out with photos.

Why Do We Love This Stuff?
This kind of stop is always fun, but many people must agree because it was crowded here. Everyone just lined up, got their quick photos, and moved on. So it really did not take long. If you ride the on and off trolley, this is one of their stops. Of course I’d recommend this! Great photo op!

Iconic picture spot but nothing more than that
Seems to be for each and everyone a must have picture spot because the place is crowded. There is sometimes a long queue if you want have a picture with yourself on it and the location itself is nothing special. It is placed in between a couple of buildings and the photo looks only great if you take it from a certain angle. On the bright side, it’s free of charge and it’s close by other attractions, so it’s not a detour going there

Long line to get a photo
Ok, so there was a HUGE long line here. I really hadn't expected that because the last time I visited I was able to just walk right up. We waited in line for 45 minutes to get a picture. Now, you can just stand nearby and get a picture with others in the background, but if you want to be touching the marker, you have to wait in line. Folks were respectful of others and it was worth it to us - great weather and an hour to kill.

A must when in KEY WEST
Ok ~ so it's a colorful Buoy and just a photo opp; but that why you have to go. We went at night the first day we got there no line ~ people were friendly and offered to take picture for people great experience and even got wet with the high waters. Now during the day we decided to see if we could get day time pictures .....FORGET IT! The line was down the block it was crazy how long people would stand in line to get the perfect picture ~ but again you kind of have to do it while there ~~~~ again biggest TIP: go at night!

Worth waiting in the rain and getting ocean spray for the photo
Cool photo spot. Went on a rainy Sunday and there was still a long line for a photo. The water was also rough and crashing into the bulkhead and spraying water over the area. It’s still a must visit!

    Meh
The actual southernmost point is Ballast Key. This is basically a gimmicky tourist trap. The good thing is, it's free. Be prepared to wait in line if you want your picture taken right next to it. More conveniently you can take a picture from the street with the buoy in the background.

get there early or later for shorter queues - got to be done when in key west.
It had to be done - join the queue to take a pic by the famous landmark. Queues were longer mid morning so we returned mid afternoon and only had to wait about 10 minutes. We took another families pics and they took ours. People were very orderly and waited patiently which was nice.

    Off my bucket list
A "have to do" when visiting Key West. Our hotel was nearby on Duval Street so it was a short walk. The buoy is located on a corner so there was very little parking available. Each time we passed by there was a line for photos. We stopped by our first day in Key West which was on a Tuesday early afternoon and the line was not that long. We probably waited about fifteen minutes for our turn to pose. There are so many people available to take your photos that the stop was short and sweet. Everyone was considerate , polite and friendly. My recommendations is to walk or have someone drop you off. The tolley tours drive by the buoy also. Scratch that off the list.

  • Duval Street Hotels
This street is the bustling heart of Key West, and a great spot to experience the city's culture and nightlife. It's filled with fantastic restaurants, lively bars, art galleries, and shops selling unique gifts, clothes, and hand-rolled cigars. And don't forget to stand in line to take a photo at the Southernmost Point Buoy, which is just a block away. In the evening, you sip on a margarita and enjoy an al fresco meal, or join a haunted pub crawl and ghost tour of the area. Visit during the shoulder season between March and May when the weather is still pleasant, and the crowds are smaller. – Tripadvisor
