- Dee AWemmel, Belgium42 contributionsFabulous museum of incredible diversityFabulous Museum! Collections of Impressionist period paintings such as Manet, Monet, Cézanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh and so on... It is a multi-faceted museum which fully enriches you on the pluriculture of the Arts, which range from antiquity to the by various global destinations... We spent a whole day there...without having seen everything! Take good comfortable shoes to explore the absolutely rich galleries because one day is not enough...Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 February 2024
- JaneEWorcestershire, United Kingdom117 contributionsFabulous museumBlown away by it and I’ve visited lots of famous museums. It’s huge, wish I’d had time in NY to visit twice as after 4hr in there I hit artefact and art overload. Really didn’t expect to be impressed with the European history parts as there’s so much of this to see in the uk, but it was great. Exhibits are very spaced out making it easy to walk around and also shows off artefacts brilliantly. Art galleries also amazing, just wished I’d given the Guggenheim a total miss and spent 2 days at the Met.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 February 2024
- FarwriterLondon, United Kingdom169 contributionsWonderful museumI spent 3 and a half hours here and saw some of the medieval collection, plus the British galleries and the American Wing. For $30 I think it is excellent value - not much more expensive than other museums and there is so much to see, although you have to be selective and can't see everything in a day. Also, when a small bottle of water in the cafe costs $5.70, that makes the amazing art seem even better value! ;-) I visited at about 12.30 on a Monday - the entrance hall was busy and there was around a 10 minute wait in the queue for tickets but once inside I was surprised that it never felt crowded or noisy in the rooms I visited. There were plenty of people of course, but the museum is an absolute rabbit warren of interconnecting rooms and I was frequently the only person in a room at one time. I enjoyed seeing a mix of paintings, ceramics, furniture, and I particularly liked the period rooms in the American Wing, where fixtures and fittings have been transported from historic buildings and recreated. Amazing museum.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 27 February 2024
- Roney L3 contributionsThe Met: An Art Adventure Awaits! The Met is like stepping into a time machine, but for art! It's got everything from old-school relics to mind-blowing contemporary pieces. Seriously, it's a feast for the eyes. Whether you're an art buff or just up for an adventure, The Met won't disappoint. Plus, it's basically a crash course in art history with a side of awesome vibes. Totally worth checking out!Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 29 February 2024
- DaisyartpeggyToledo, Spain33 contributionsBring your own water!Love the museum, but why is it so hard to find a bottle of water? I felt like I was going to pass out. Endless walking and long lines at the café. It really needs to be easier to get waterVisited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 March 2024
- CaseyCheshNashua, New Hampshire75 contributionsGreat museum in NYCFantastic Egyptian art and antiquities. All of the famous classic artists have work on display here. A great spot for a couple or a family. Can spend a full day here and not see everything. The cafes get pricey.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 March 2024
- AetofficialIzmir, Türkiye14 contributionsA museum that takes time to finishFirst of all, I must say that you definitely need to choose the time you go carefully. Unless you examine the works in great detail, one day will only be enough to finish them. You can see ancient Roman, Egyptian, Turkish and Far Eastern works, as well as many renaissance and pre-renaissance works. There are also many works from recent history.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 3 March 2024
- Relly B13 contributionsDon’t miss the guided tours by the MET guidesI joined a guild tour (we were too stressed it would be full but it wasn’t. You just come and join). Dennis gave us a wonderful tour, so inspiring and informative. You could see that she is a true art lover and she enjoyed having a discussion about art with the group and answering questions, not just providing information. It was so great I joined another tour later, also excellent . Be careful from guided tours by external guides. I was on a poor Statue of Liberty tour a day before and the same guy was leading a tour at the MET. I am sure he had nothing to do with art and it is disgraceful to ask for money for such a tour when you can have the real thing for free.Visited March 2024Travelled on businessWritten 10 March 2024
- Scott BSan Antonio, Texas43 contributionsOne of the NYC Jewels. If you like art and history this is the place for you. Art and history from around the world. See Egypt, China, Russia, and many other parts of the world. It is truly an amazing place. And then there are the beautiful gardens and delightful restaurant. Makes for a great day for yourself or the family.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 March 2024
- LilithStuttgart, Germany984 contributionsAn art museum whose reputation precedes it, the Metropolitan MuseumA visit to the Metropolitan Museum really rounds off a visit to New York. Even non-art/museum lovers should visit the Metropolitan at least once. The variety of exhibits, collections, eras on display... you simply can't do it all justice in one visit. Every room or hall holds new treasures and there is so much to discover and look at more closely. Simply worth every cent of the entrance fee! A really great museum - everything you need, such as lockers, toilets, a gift shop, etc. is available. The building itself is also quite interesting for those interested in architecture! Easily accessible by metro and also barrier-free, well signposted. Absolutely exciting for all ages.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 18 March 2024
