The Bitan Scenic Area with its beautiful mountains and rivers was one of the eight sceneries of Taiwan earlier on and was reputed as the “little red cliff” due to its steep cliffs on the west bank. If you enjoy wandering through this area by bike, there are well established surrounding riverside cycling paths. One may also boat on Bitan in paddle boats which are also quite pleasant. If you are tired and would like to take some rest, why not set foot in feature restaurants on the east bank and comfort your soul with great food and beautiful scenery with an air of romance.
The neighboring Wulai is one of the few districts in Northern Taiwan with indigenous culture. You can visit the Atayal Museum for the history and culture of indigenous people, or go for an in-depth indigenous tribal life experience and enjoy unique totems and architecture. The area is famous for its hot springs and cherry blossoms. Visit in spring to bask in the color of cherry blossoms, and experience hot springs in winter to warm the body and heart. Don’t miss the old street if you enjoy shopping and buying. If you want to stand closer to nature, the different appearance of Wulai Waterfall from time to time from trickling to overwhelming will capture your heart.
This free pedestrian-only bridge is a really nice way to see the river valley below. If you look to the south (upriver), you get a really good view of the rising mountains. On the east side of the bridge is a nice covered market with food and shopping options.
The surroundings are so beautiful. Definitely a must do when visiting Taipei. The area offers great walks. Nearby there's a gondola which I suggest you take at daytime and at nighttime. The views on the city are amazing.
This hotel is located in New Taipei City which is generally a 20-30 minute ride into the “city” where the action is. It’s tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff is pleasant and willing to converse in English.
The positives greatly outweigh the negatives.
1) great location: 2 minute walk to Bitan riverfront area, across the street from an MRT station and bus depot, access to local restaurants and vendors, Hemei mountain hiking trail
2) newly renovated
3) fresh breakfast, buffet style, Morris Asian than western
4) bathroom plumbing works well, toilet with bidet and toilet paper...
Having spent three days staying in the hotel, I found the hotel is close to scenic spots at Bitan scenic area, with extensive cycling routes, jogging tracks, family boating, and hiking trails. If most locals and tourists enjoy having a weekend away from the hectic city centre and look for some outdoor activities. The hotel staff at the front desk...
Stayed here in June with my daughter. Location on the beach with nice walks along the beach front. There is a square 5 minutes away with local acts, fantastic atmosphere.
The hotel is immaculate, although rooms a little on the small side, but cleaned everyday to a high standard.
Food is delicious, waiter service on an evening, brilliant.
All the staff...
