Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
My first visit here for both a meeting, after having been forced to move venues, and dinner. A lovely paradise, full of history I exquisite surroundings. Excellent food on service. Very much looking forward to our next visit.
Visitors who are intrigued by the Knights Hospitallers will find this a gem. The small museum is informative, and the tour was exceptionally rewarding. There are stairs and windy staircases to negotiate, but it is all worthwhile. A page of history hidden away, for all but the knowledgeable and determined to find.
Well worth the time and effort.
A rather strange Church, founded in 1123 it is London`s oldest , there is a small charge to enter but do not let that put you off, it is well worth it, almost next door is the small museum at Barts Hospital, very interesting free to enter
A fantastic day out.
The website for the museum has some great walking guides for routes from nearby stations, complete with information on some buildings you walk past, so even before you arrive at the museum you notice things you might have walked past like a beautiful Italian church.
The exhibition is interesting with lots to see and information is...
I thoroughly enjoyed my weekly walks by the river from Acton to Putney bridge. Early Sunday morning or late evening.
Amazing view & you disconnect completely as long as you walk on the right side of the river under the trees& listen to the birds singing!
This is a gem. A small and simple sushi bar (counter for only 7 people), which results in a time consuming and difficult booking process. (For me this was part of the challenge; I would not be deterred in my quest to find a decent and authentic Japanese Sushi restaurant in London). A simple multi-course Omakase style meal of sashimi...
We had our company Christmas Party at The Peasant and it was excellent. The staff were totally amazing and patient with us taking care of our every need. The food was truly delicious and we all had a wonderful time. I cannot recommend them enough, we will be back in 2019!
Really great hotel with spunk and personality. Comfortable bed, good service, and wonderful location. Not the largest rooms but ample and had nothing to complain about. Would certainly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the Clerkenwell area.
Stayed one night - would recommend as quirky yet all that you need. Honesty bar - haven’t seen that in ages! Service attentive and even the hotel cat is a character. Will return no doubt next time back in London
This location is a wonderful setting away from, as some might describe, clinical hotel chains. The charm runs deep within the furnishings and character of the building as well as the staff who are also exceptionally accommodating and knowledgeable. Try the cocktails! The environment is relaxing and cosy, all aiding you to unwind that much more.
Booked on a 3rd party site and booked a "small double" room without breakfast. Check in and out was seamless, although i did email ahead and didn't receive a response to my query until after we had arrived. Room was indeed quite small but ok for one night, my husband is 6'4 and bed was fine for him. Kettle and...
Stayed here as it was significantly cheaper than local budget chain hotels. So glad we did. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Close to the Barbican centre and the city.
Will certainly stay here in the future.
