Bastille and Oberkampf are lively parts of town made for entertainment. During the day rows of unassuming bars welcome customers for a bite or a drink, but it’s at night this area really comes to life. Students and young professionals fill the busy bars around Bastille and Oberkampf. At Place de la Bastille, crowds flock to the Opéra Bastille in the evening and groups wait for coveted tickets during the day. Towards Republique, skateboarders practice their tricks while others chill out at the square. If you’re looking for late-night revelry, this is your neighbourhood.
We were in the vicinity - Bastille, Gare de Lyon, on our way to Faubourg St. Antoine - and saw this marked on our map. Well worth a detour to find a stairway leading up to this converted railway, now a green public pathway. What's fun to see is all the development that this generated - new housing along what...
Last September my wife and I has the chance to travel to Paris for the first time. Since I did not know the place and since I have the Starwood Preferred Guest membership, I asked them about a nice hotel near downtown Paris. They recommended the Sheraton Place de la Republique.
As the name indicates, it is located just one...
"Small street with bars and restaurants and lots of people in evenings"
reviewed 11 July 2017 by JanisLatvia
Went there just incidentally. I was surprised by amounts of people present. The bars and restaurants were quite occupied and many of the visitors were just staying and chatting in the street. I think that this is a good place if you are looking for night life and some adventure.

"Daily Mass Options (btwn Church and nearby Chapel)"
reviewed 15 October 2016 by GREG M
By God's grace, we stumbled upon this medieval monastery just in time for Sunday Mass. Shortly thereafter, we discovered that weekday (noontime) Masses are offered by the St Antoine pastor at a mission chapel (Chapelle de l'Agneau de Dieu) just outside Gare de Lyons (in the Place de Henri Frenay), a few blocks away. Neither the monastery Church nor the...

"Best food we've had in Paris yet"
reviewed 1 week ago by Germanic_Irishman
We've used the TripAdvisor list of top restaurants to book tables throughout our trip. This is very easily the best we've experienced so far. We have the whole family here including kids and everyone loved it. The goat cheese, onion soup, fish, creme brulee and molten chocolate cake were all great. Best vanilla ice cream I've ever had. Excellent!
And what a bang! We ordered the menu with the house wine for 25 euros/person. The salad, the crepe and the desert were divine. It was Tuesday night, we had the place for ourselves and both the chef and his assistant were super hosts!
This was an experience we will not forget about our trip to France. Jean Yves won marterchef 2012 and decided not to open a restaurant like many chefs. He did the opposite, he kept it small for the maximum of 12 people. And because of that he had the time to talk to you and explain how he made his...
We absolutely loved this hotel. Conveniently located being 20 minutes walk from the Bastile/Marais/Notre Dame in a great area packed with bars and restaurants. Fabulous staff who are multi-lingual and genuinely pleased to see you.
The hotel is a converted factory which has been brilliantly converted but using the structures and retaining the feel of a working environment. Lovely rooms...
Lovely hotel in the Bastille area. We had a large suite for 3 persons. Plenty of room. Facilities very clean. Staff very helpful. Good location near the metro stop. Would highly recommend this for exploring the city.
It is a very clean and modern hotel with perfectly friendly stuff!! It is located just in few steps from Republique metro stop, where lots of different lines intersect. It is soooo comfortable when you want to explore Paris by foot!
By the way, breakfast there is always fresh and very tasty.
I highly recommend this hotel for many reasons!
Friendly and quirky hotel in a great location, Service and staff great.
Room was very different and enjoyed the stay.
Easy to organise everything you need to do from hotel access to metro nearby bus routes and Bastille.
Really enjoyed would recommend and return.
Nice hotel, very good location, close to metro and many bars and restaurants. Comfortable rooms, if a little small, nice shower room. All kept very clean and staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate but a little limited. Would certainly recommend and will stay again on next visit to Paris.
