Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported. The beauty of these streets lies in their surprises around every twist and turn.
Eat, see, and stay in Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Interesting, colorful, mainly village-like ambience. Plenty of restaurants, some new and very top class, some of old charm. Wall murals and graffity, old houses. A water fountain from a good local spring at Place Verlaine where local people come and fill their water containers. To one side the Place d'Italie: a large square with circulating traffic but also plenty of...
Worth trying this Asian restaurant and their discovery menu, either meat or fish. I tried the meat one but next time I'll go for the fish, which seemed to be even more varied. The price seems correct for what you get, several different small dishes, and even when you are no longer hungry you want to keep tasting. Also enjoyed...
The food is fresh and delicious. Only complain would be that the service was a bit slow (but the restaurant was full, even though it was a week night) and the Vietnamese deserts we've ordered were a too sweet for our taste.
I stayed at the Citadines Place d'Italie for 2 weeks and was very pleased with everything that this Citadines delivered. First of all the front of house staff answered all questions and my emails prior to my arrival, and did a superior job in making my and my family member's stay pleasant.
The studios are relatively spacious and are clean...
Stayed in the Privilige room with views of the city and Eiffel tower which I would really recommend (got a 30% discount though, normal rates are quite high). Hotel and room are very clean, breakfast was excellent (even at 9.50 am there was plenty of choice) and the bed was possibly the best we ever slept in at a hotel....
Clean quiet with staff very friendly.
Room larger than I expected
Clearly it is newly renovated.
The WiFi could have worked better.
I could not connect both my tablet and mobile phone at the same time.
This hotel is close to metro and direct bus to many attractions. It is not flooded by tourists .
You can get bus directly to Gare de Lyon or metro to Eiffel Tower. You find enough of restaurants around, including the halal shops. The staff are extremely nice, bilingual . Rooms are small but OK unless you like to move...
I stayed here twice in 6 months, it was PERFECT. Loved the location, felt safe, great restos near by.... an easy choice!
The room was the perfect size, clean bathroom, dark at night, quiet... it was just right!
