Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
Get there early to a get a 'seat' on the stairs. Dont sit on the hand rails near the middle where there are pots as this part is used as part of the water display n you will get wet. The show went for at least 30mins
The views from the top of the castle were fantastic and certainly the highlight of the visit to this castle. It was also interesting to watch the continual procession of planes coming in to land at Barcelona Airport. However, the castle does lack the Wow factor. At a cost of 5 Euros per person I wouldn’t be rushing back to...
We came across this restaurant by chance at 2pm. There was nobody else in but we sat with a bottle of wine and tapas whiling the afternoon away. Beautiful food, excellent wine and great service. Total cost €44 for 2 people
Recommended by the Excellent Hotel Brumell we had slight misgivings on the first evening arriving late (by English standards not Spanish) at this very small bar. We were greeted extremely warmly and the menu explained by the charming young lady who was "front of house". Drinks were quickly served and several extremely tasty sharing dishes were soon in front of...

"A good location and service oriented hotel hotel"

Hotel was in a very good location. 30 min journey from the airport , using bus airport coach A1/A2 or local bus 46( cheaper alternative) . Metro pl. España was 5 min walk away as well. It’s near to many many attractions. It’s very close proximity to the Barcelona Sant station, just 2 bus stop away. Can’t spell it all...
This hotel is basic and offers all you need on a short trip to the city. Located near the Parallel metro station (a main stop with lots of connections around the city) and only a 15 minute walk to La Rambla.
The room had a large bed which was well presented and the bathroom was clean.
We were here on Friday 9th for a drink when en-route to our restaurant. It is a beautiful hotel and being up on Montjuic it has stunning views over the city, harbour and the Mediterranean. A real taste of luxury.
