Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
Small museum with a huge amount packed in. Some of the rooms looked like they were just created while others looked like nothing has changed in many years. The newer ones were well designed and displayed items very well. The older looking rooms often felt like there was an overload of material to look at. Many of the older animals...
During our Venice visits, we stay about a 7-minute walk from this 13th-century church, which is located in a charming small square by a canal. I've looked at the exterior often when I've been in the square, shopping at the Coop supermarket, eating at a nearby restaurant, or buying marvelous pastries to go from Majer. Sometimes I simply sit at...
Although parking this near the city center might be near-impossible in high season, it is a very convenient starting point.
We were offseason and ín Coronatimes, so parking here was no problem.
26€ for 24 hrs.
Mind you: after paying the ticket you have to leave the parkinglot within 1,5 hours. So don’t pay unless you’re planning on leaving soon....
We arrived and there was a lot of people waiting. The waiter told us to come later and, because of the wait, they were very kind and gave us more food and drinks that what we asked for, and for free! It's overall a really nice place to have lunch in Venezia, great food and even better ambiance! It's also...
A friendly place, in a great location near a canal and only a few minutes away from the main train station.
The aperol spritz was delicious- we ordered a small size and it was a perfect amount- great value too!
We only found this place towards the end of our stay- and we were so pleased we did. It would be near the very top of my list for food and drink related experiences in Venice.
The little filled rolls are delicious (my favourite was the porchetta with mustard, absolutely wonderful), the ombra of wine are well-chosen and tasty, the...

Cara Signora Elisabetta & Team,
I would like to thank you for the most helpful and warm attention you paid to my request for information regarding my next visit to Venice in October. Being already a great fan of your beautiful hotel I can't wait to be back. It is so good to know that Venetians are there to welcome...
"A brief and wonderful stay at Canal Grande hotel"

Personnel are warm, helpful and knowledgeable.
Our visit was during an unusual period of pandemic ressurgence. We had initially planned to stay for 4 nights but we were obliged to shorten our stay to 2 nights because of reconfinement starting day 3.
Will definitely come back! The hotel is excellent, very well located. Warm luxurious rooms overlooking the canal.
The location is a bit away from the main attraction like Piaza San Marco. But with the vaporeti it will take you 20mins.
The hotel in general is beautiful and well kept.
Beds are comfy but the pillow needs some replacement as they went flat. Just not a fan of the velvety sofa bed for our son as it was...
We liked everything about this hotel, from its location to the friendly staff. We would recommend this hotel to everybody. The breakfast is good in quality, the rooms are very tidy and have airco, and the wifi is perfect.
