Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns, and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill – fantastic for great vistas of Vienna. The woodland around Kahlenberg has a wonderful and not too strenuous hiking path - just don't forget the insect repellent. If you have adventurous children, take them to Waldseilpark Kahlenberg (forest rope park Kahlenberg). A must-do if you want a taste of the Vienna Woods is a stop at Josefinenhütte next door with its great food, cosy interiors and wonderful outdoor space.
I study up in Modul in Kahlenberg and I got to say that the view never gets old. But make sure you go when there is no fog, then I would recommend having a coffee at the cafe there and hiking down to town.
Our guide's knowledge of the history of Vienna was amazing. We visited a monastery and Mayerling (which includes a nunnery). We We also took a boat ride at the Seagrotte Hinterbruk, Europe's largest subterranean lake. It was a bit eerie and not for those who may suffer from claustrophobia. The monastery was fascinating and beautiful. It was certainly a place...

"Quaint little buildings full of history"
reviewed 17 July 2018 by ElementOwners
Beethoven, the talented composer who lost his hearing, is memorialized here. The building itself is charming with its bare wood floors and little windows. You will get a glimpse into his life and work.
This is a very small park, very well kept and very charming! It is very beautiful at this time of the year with the nice colours of autumn...There are some japanese traits, lake, bridge, even a tea house!
"Karl-Marx-Hof: A break from the imperial glory and glamour"
reviewed 22 May 2018 by A5261XBgraham
The 1920s in Vienna were a period of radical social experiments, especially at the hands of the social-democratic city government. Among its achievements was the Karl-Marx-Hof social housing complex. It's still there and a wonderful exhibition in what was the communal laundry explores the history of this period. It's in German, but there is an English language pamphlet. (And the...

"Excellent fixed menu lunch"
reviewed 2 weeks ago by Merrowmum
This is a great restaurant in a quiet part of the city; we were exploring Heiligenstadt and Grinzinger so it was a perfect place to stop for lunch!
The interior is modern Austrian with nice local touches. Service was friendly, helpful and efficient.
The two-course fixed price lunch was excellent value. My husband had the beef consomme starter; we both...

"Fantastic groovy restaurant"
reviewed 4 weeks ago by Emmanuel O
The restaurant is large but gives some degree of exclusivity. It is an excellent place for group parties and dinners. the assorted foods and wine are just superb. the atmosphere is cozy and it is easy to dream away with its country-side look and feeling. I enjoyed the starters too. Will recommend the restaurant for groups looking for a good...
Plachutta's restaurant is famous for its boiled beef and other traditional Austrian food which tastes amazing, Excellent wine-list and top service. Plachutta Nussdorf offers a cosy atmosphere and has a small garden.
There are several restaurants spread all over Vienna.
This restaurant is in the suburbs of Vienna. The restaurant is beautiful. We splurged and took the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Add to that 3 amazing amuse bouche... As is usual for this type of restaurant, the description of the dishes on the menu is correct but gives you no real knowledge of what to expect. It’s...
Had Lunch there with my family yesterday and all loved their dishes. Pork roast and beef onion roast were very nice. They have their own butcher so meat in general is a great choice. Very good beer and amazing sweet dumplings! They have a nice garden to sit.
I didn’t like that the bill came without asking for it, not...
Everything was great. I loved the addition of the utility mobile phone. I wish i could have used it to call Serbia, but i understand that it is probably mobile provider issue. All of the staff were helpful and very pleasant. Looking forward to my next trip to Vienna.
The hotel is nice. My room was tiny but clean and cozy. There is a little kitchen corner in the room and free water and beer in the fridge when you arrive. It is slightly off the main Vienna center but the neighborhood is nice and, thanks to the amazing Vienna public transport, you really don't feel the distance.
Very nice hotel, very nice people, a little out of the city, but we liked that. a great "Austrian feel" to this hotel. A 30 min bus / tram trip in, but once you got the hang of it, the bus's are uber efficient! if you don't want the City Centre hub-bub and like some quiet but still within easy...
"Disappointing - does not meet expectations of a 4 stars hotel!"
reviewed 11 July 2018 by Bogna J
Unless you need to stay 1 or 2 nights in this very nice area of Vieneese heurigers - avoid! Suspicious staff with ironic smirk on their faces has nothing pleasant even if they try to be helpful. First I was given a tiny room which did not correspond to my reservation on Booking.com - with endless issues on how many...
Alas I did not stay here, but ate here as part of a business conference. First impressions on entering where WOW, beautiful lounge/terrace area with amazing views of Vienna.
The staff were exceptional, always ensuring that glasses were filled and dirty ashtrays removed (we don;t get that in the UK!)
The dining hall and food (buffet) were equally as good...
