Anping District is the area first developed in Taiwan. It is also the key to Taiwan’s involvement in the international community. The two famous historic monuments, Anping Fort (a.k.a. Fort Zeelandia) and Eternal Golden Castle leave behind them the traces of international trade made by various countries. Another historic monument that stands the test of time is Tree House, in which beautiful stories were created along with the running water in the canal in the course of history.
The National Museum of Taiwan History in the form of green building stands in Annan District. Next to the coastal Cihcao Dajhong Temple is the amazingly gorgeous green tunnel formed by mangroves. Moving slowly in the river course on a pipe raft, you will be greeted by hermit crabs and mudskippers. The sunlight glitters in the woods. This will be like a tranquil journey in the no-man Amazon. What comes next is Luermen River estuary. People can enjoy the beautiful sunset in the Natural Defence of the Capital and also visit the one and only temple which has two barefooted door gods of foreign descent, guarding General Jheng Chengkong, making the trip to Tainan full of stories and mysteries.
Eat, see, and stay in Anping District/ Annan District
It's amazing how nature can creep its way into abandoned houses. It's also amazing how creative the Taiwanese are, using the place to showcase the history of Anping and allowing works of arts to be displayed. I believe the place can be rented as a venue for various functions too.
For tourists who don't know Chinese, you should take this...
Historic Walking Areas, Military Bases & Facilities
reviewed 14 June 2018 by GHCDi
Enjoyed walking around the old city built by the Dutch. Nice museum and gardens. Go to the watch tower to view the city and harbor. When we were there we watched a drum competition in the neighboring square. Lots of people, children, and vendors to enjoy. Two young women were playing flutes in the fort courtyard. Very peaceful and enjoyable....
Nice atmosphere and great value Teppanyaki compared to the price we pay back home. We opted for the set menu which comes in 6 courses including sorbet, the service standard is really high and they offer unlimited refill for the welcome drink and the sorbet (which our kids love), dessert and after dinner drink are served at a separate area...
The beef was great! Very fresh and tasty! Worth the travels for the meal. The only downside was only drinks was refillable, everything else, even lettuce, was to be purchased as a dish if you'd like a second helping to go with the bbq meat.
I arrived at 9am and there was a queue of about 20 pax before us. We waited about 30min. The braised beef rice was sold out by then. Upon making our orders, we heard the server announcing to those queuing that beef is out of stock; new stock will arrive only at 10am.
Raw beef was placed in bowl and...
My elderly mum loves the wall-mounted chair inside the toilet. The room is spacious, nice, clean. They have installed the TOTO bidet. Fantastic dining experience in the room (Two old-fashion dressed-up ladies serving me rissoto and a white wine) Pretty shocking on the first scene.
"Excellent hotel choice in Tainan close to Anping Fort"

Have stayed here numerous times. Hotel facility and its three restaurants are excellent.
The room is very clean and comfortable with great view of the water. Staff are young and energetic, yet very professional, friendly and helpful.
Despite being very slow during weekday lunch, the restaurant served surprisingly fresh quality food. The dimsum prices are generously affordable yet the servings...
Hôtel de l'eau is a very recent (2017) addition to the hotel scene in Tainan. I has compact rooms with all the essentials and is impeccably tidy. For breakfast you have the choice between Chinese style congee or five types of Western paninis or hamburger. It sounds like little, but the panini and the hamburger are very satisfactory and fresh....
I stayed here for two nights while touring Taiwan.
Not as modern as some of the other hotels I stayed in but clean and well laid out.
They put me in room 506 which was massive.
I was on my own but I had bedroom with tv, front room with couches and with tv,
two toilets and shower and bath....
