With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
A very special place that is unique for having both Christian and Islamic prayer artifacts in the same place
Avoid the combo tickets as it mostly includes non interesting things
Worse part is that they are doing some fixing inside currently an this is making the place not local as ancient as it should
It reminded me the movie Inferno,..and it was a mysterious and beautiful place!I liked that!
The medusa head was the best part of it!
It is near the Topkapi palace and Aya soofia, and you can visit all of them once you came to sultan ahmad area!
Visiting cisterna doesnt take too much time, and it really worths to see!
A must see Palace ...long walks ..make sure to visit the museum which has very interesting Islamic artifacts and dont miss the great view in the end of the sea ...and dont forget the photos there ...also there is nice resturant in there viewing the sea ...dont bother to get Hareem Palace special ticket as it is not really worth...
