Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
These are famous in Rio they are pretty and colourful and been in some famous music videos etc etc the man who done all the work was an artist from Chile he would give his art away for free if you didn’t want to or couldn’t pay for it the area is buzzing and worth a stop
You get there by bus or tram, walk a bit and finally get to this big house. Very very interesting. I was looking for Debret drawings and found them right there. As well I found so many others I didn't know about and loved them. The price is low and the place is amazing. If you want to see paintings,...
our local guide suggested a visit as it was one of the few museums open on a Monday. What a surprise! Two floors of interesting paintings and lithographs of local scenes from late 19th and early 20th century and a Picasso! The highlight was a room of lithographs of individual animals... Quite superb.
We went to have a breakfast (brunch) as a family and we had a lovely time! Food is amazing. Many options for everyone. If you’re vegetarian you had plenty of options! Beautiful cakes 🍰 and delicious tapioca with outstanding fillings - you can choose what you want! The juices are out of this world! A little gem in Santa Teresa...
Fine dinner, high end restaurant. Should offer a bigger variety of plates but still very good for couples, the view is completely stunning. The food is good and the prices are avarage for the kind of restaurant it is.
"Expensive for Brazil, but worth it for the views!"

Very pricey menu for Brazil. (About $20-30 per entree—which isn’t expensive for the US but bear in mind that things in Rio should be significantly less besides clothing.) Food was very good, but not amazing. Spectacular views and lovely ambiance as the restaurant is situated up in a tree!!! Good service. A trek to get here and not too much...
What a beautiful hotel. Simple elegance, delicious breakfast and dinner, relaxing massage, extremely efficient and friendly team what more could you ask for. The area of Santa Teresa is a great place to spend time exploring with lovely bars restaurants and galleries.
From moment we stepped in to Mama Shelter we felt like we were part of Mama’s family. Well spoken English, great layout of hotel and really nice fresh breakfast, and also good for vegetarians. Thank you to Mamas Team in Rio for making both my husband and I feel so welcome.
One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The former private mansion converted to a small boutique hotel is the cornerstone of this beautiful property. The staff and service is exceptional. For anyone looking for a top notch experience in Rio, highly recommended.
