Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.
Swimming in a refreshing sea after Sun bathing is a perfect action in Arpoador scenario.
You shall also climb the rock hill that enters to the sea, have a seat, watch the sunset and then clap to this phenomenum to celebrate a perfect day and in order to have an exciting evening.
Arpoador sidewalk is a perfect fashionable catwalk, you...
Very nice beach and fascinating intensive life and people on the breach. Just watching everything that constantly goes on can keep you entertained the whole day. Lots of people during weekends but weekdays much more space. Always keep an a eye (and firm grip on) your belongings, bags, cameras etc as there are lots of muggings around.

This is a nice statue celebrating Tom Jobim who was famous as the composer who wrote the popular Bossa Nova song "Garota de Ipanema" (The Girl from Ipanema) in the 1960's with his poet friend Vinicius de Moraes. Jobim died in a New York hospital in December 1994 and was flown back to Rio de Janeiro for burial.
For those like myself who love the arts and culture, don't miss out on this cultural space. It offers an art gallery, a bookshop, a cafe and a cinema. The films shown in the cinema are generally interesting, European productions and also independent films of Brazil and other nations. The ambience is pleasant and tranquil. The admittance and the food are...
We have visited this museum twice (on both our trips to Rio) and we highly recommend it to people who are interested in fine jewelry and gemstones. The actual mining displays are very interesting, but the gems steal the show! The colors and size of the stones displayed are amazing and they are all beautiful. Once you have toured the...
Great food, great ambiance, great service !
The perfect dining experience in a beautiful city.
Since you open the door, the smell of the food transport you to France and the flavors just confirm you are in that country.
Definitely I would recommend this place.
Amazing code plates in several different options. Very large portions, poor selection of beers tough... appetizers are great, code and potato fried "bolinhos" is a must. Decoration take us to Portugal with no stop. And the food is great, I emphasize that!

"Elegant dinner spot "

Had a lovely dinner for two here when staying in Ipanema. Zaza is sophisticated with a nice quirky interior. We sat on the terrace. We both had very different types of dishes and both were excellent. You pay for the quality though - not a cheap meal.
It’s one of my favorites restaurants in town because the food is delicious and clean. The recipes changes every day. The portions are really generous but sometimes the people who serve don’t pay attention when you say that’s the only salad you want and put just half of it. It’s a little annoying. The prices could be a little less.
I really enjoyed the stay at this hotel. The personnel were always smiling, helping, and at hand when needed. The rooms are really comfortable, clean, nice view. Ay the beach, I always felt protected and the staff where always there for any need I had. The pool is beautiful and warm, nice views.
Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights while vacationing solo in Rio. No complaints about the room - very clean and cozy. The location was great - right in between Copacabana & Ipanema beaches (walking distance for either). The amenities were just fine - great included breakfast, gym pass to a local fitness center (how cool is that!), and is...
We arrived and found check in to be friendly and efficient. We ate a number of meals at the restaurant and found the wait staff to be friendly and welcoming. The meals were all good. Breakfast was large and adequate for our needs. The hotel is close to Ipanema Beach and is very quiet. If we are in Rio de...
My mother, sister, and I just spent a week at the Arena Ipanema hotel, and all three of us loved it. Major perks:
* The staff were uniformly wonderful: we made special connections with Shayna, Nathale, Vladimir, Adamo, and Frederico.
*The room was cozy but perfectly designed. My sister kept saying, "I feel like we are staying in an Ikea."...
Helpful staff, wonderful outdoor cafe` out back, just off the Ocean. The rooms are small, though nice and clean, with an ample - sized bathroom. Breakfast included. My only complaint is that there is no gym .
