It’s the tourist central of the city with a liberal dose of rich history, iconic eating and drinking joints and artistic connections that have found prominent mentions in Gregory
David Roberts’ Shantaram. Stroll down Colaba Causeway for kitschy street shopping
bargains. Take a break at the many laid-back legendary bars & restaurants like Cafe
Mondegar or Leopold Café. The vibrant vibe of Colaba is incomplete without the buzz at
Mumbai’s most iconic tourist hub, Gateway of India & The Taj Mahal Hotel on the parallel lane. Sprinkled with designer boutiques, quaint cafes with rooftop sea view, the promenade is a popular route to go to Elephanta Caves & Alibaug.
Colaba causeway is famous for street shopping. One can easily get quality clothes at a much cheaper price here only if you know how to bargain. Morever this market is mainly for girls and ladies. There are nice jewellery shops with a lot of variety. A NOTE: If you go for shopping, do shop during the day light.
The ferry's are operated by locals and a great way to connect to the northern parts of Konkan like Alibaug, Kashid, Mandwa which are coastal areas with lot of beaches and resorts for weekend picnics. Though all the ferries are not so maintained, some of them are air conditioned which are relief during summers.

I went to sassoon docks a few time with a friend to buy fish because I don't really know how to buy fish. the best time to go is early in the morning as early as you can go and remember you have to buy a whole lot of fish so make sure freezer is empty or you have a...
It usually remains close and opens only on a specific days during months that too on Saturday and Sunday for morning prayers. It looks like an isolated place but it's glass windows are masterpiece of 19th century.
Had dinner here recently and we had a wi Dow seat with a wonderful view of India gateway illuminated by night.
Service is excellent, attentive but unobtrusive.
We needed extra time with the menu, difficult to choose quickly. The pre starter of vegetable crudités with yoghurt and harrisa dips was delicious, we even had a second round!
Mezze starter was...
Service is really nice here. Food is fresh. But what is even better is the ambience. The view from the restaurant is the Gateway.
I would say the only downside is the price. I think its way over priced Japanese.

Not only did the Taj help arrange transport form Mumbai Airport, but after arriving, we discovered that I had left passport at the airport money exchange counter,. Mr Clinton and the hotel staff went into action!. They called a representative at the airport who found my passport and within a couple hours had brought it right to my room. I'm...
I stayed twice in the hotel.
The people of the reception are exceptionally helpful, specially mr. Jackson.
The rooms are big, the shower is great.
There are some details in the room that could be better care of, but nothing that bothers you.
It was reasonably clean.
a small but comfortable hotel close to the water and short walk to the gateway of India. Nowhere in Mumbai is quiet, but this location is not too bad. also very close to the Taj Mahal Palace which is a lovely old hotel recovering from the terrorist attack some 10 years ago. will worth having a drink there.
We started our India tour from Mumbai. We stayed in Faryas Hotel rated4*. Very convenient being located in Colabar just behind the Famous Taj Hotel and Cafe Leopold all within walking distance. For Shopping centres 10 mins drive we went to the new Phoenix Mall. All big brands are there and very affordable. Food courts everywhere with mouthwatering dishes.
