The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
We quite enjoyed the first hour here but then it got super crowded, which was a bit of an issue, since we had to get past hordes of people to find our way out. Avoid weekends and public holidays for sure.
This was a big park within 15 minutes walk from the JW. There were many different statues and sculptures constructed out of stone or metal and located throughout the park. I was able to walk up close to some but others had to be enjoyed from a distance. It made this jog around the park more interesting. Others were playing...
it was a good place to visit. An architecture in the heart of the city.
the chinese friend told me that its fine not to go inside and pay since the temple is tall and you can just take a picture of it from outside.
This museum was such a treat! Some of the taxidermy is not great (lions and leopards) but everything else is very well preserved and looked after. The butterfly exhibit is beautiful and the dinosaur exhibits will be a huge hit with children or paleontology fans!

"Exceptional Food & Service"
reviewed 3 weeks ago by bandersen
We wanted to try Bulgarian cuisine and the owner made it happen. From the bread, to the wine, sea bass, mixed grill and the RIBS, the ribs are fantastic! We really enjoyed everything and would highly recommend.
Just go for it. I'm craving it already. Best enjoyed on the spot. Just order it and have it while it's still warm.. Bring out that "happy kid" (even if you hadn't tried it before) feeling as you eat/ enjoy one of these tarts.
"Best Chinese dumplings and noodles we've ever had - definite do-over"
reviewed 2 weeks ago by Ald
This was recommended by our guide on a custom tour. Best meal we had in our 4 days in Shanghai. Wonderful dumplings and noodles. The soup dumplings (bao) were great. They were out of savory buns but we got the Steamed Sesame Bun - wonderful. Noodle with scallion and soy sauce - wonderful. The one thing we were not that...

"Excellent Italian food"

An excellent Italian restaurant in Shanghai, directly managed by the owner, Severino, who makes sure your experience is unique. I met him to one of the best vegetables shop in Shanghai, while he was choosing the top quality ingredients, and this made me decide to visit his restaurant, and I was not disappointed. There are 6-7 main course meat based,...
An occasional chance to visit SH, I've heard about SUKHOTAI for a long time since the first property opened. My friends and I asked for a hotel tour, the facilities and design of every single concern are amazing and just fitting to me. TEAMLAB is an absolutely highlight without doubt, if not rushing the time, possibly I would be standing...

"Stable Premium Services Provided After The Typhoon"
reviewed yesterday by Nobilis Music A
Under the typhoon influence in HK, we arrived in Shanghai around midnight at 11 pm. They offered premium in-room dining services, and we ordered some Shanghai dumplings and spring rolls before bed, which is pretty tasty and offered at a quite reasonable price. The staffs are all very friendly and being highly attentive to customers' need; we were offered to...
Amazing hotel, amazing views and fantastic location.
We upgraded to a suite and was really worth it.
The concierge desk took great care of us when we needed them. Thanks Tiffany and team.
If I was to return to Shanghai I would like to stay here again if possible.
If you want local color and don't want to stay in a big international hotel, this is the place. Great location. Modern, with Chinese influence. Reasonable price. Excellent breakfast and free happy-hour drinks and snacks. Very good service, but staff a bit challenged in English.
