Up to the Dandenongs and decided to try out Sassafras Cafe for breakfast given the last time l was here in the afternoon, the scones were heavenly. This time a simple plate of scrambled eggs for breakfast made by the same lady who cooks the scones. All l can say is that the offering was perfect. On this experience, l... More

My husband and i had a devonshire tea when visiting Sassafras. This cafe is very quaint and felt like you were sitting in England. Quaint windows, pretty tables and smiles all around. The scones were freshly baked, not microwaved. The jam(mixed bery) was so delicious that we actually bought a jar to take home. It is made by a local... More

Went there on Australia Day. We had coffee and shared a gluten free white chocolate cake. Both were superb and the service was great. Will demonstrate pop in again on my next visit to the Dandenong.

We loved the Devonshire tea - fresh scones, light, with berry jam and double cream - perfect end to our Sunday outing. The cappuccino was great too. Will be back. Owner and staff are friendly and warm.

We enjoyed a great breakfast here on a Saturday morning, service was friendly and efficient, poached eggs, hash browns potato and crispy bacon, happily cooked to order by the chef. Nice ambience with several different seating areas, all with a nice window view.

From the moment we entered the cafe we were very impressed. A friendly, smiling welcome from staff members was the start of a very enjoyable lunch outing. The service was outstanding, and the management are very fotunate to have such wonderful staff. Great food as well!

We dropped by for lunch and ordered the Calamari & Salad with a juice. Freshly prepared, tasty and healthy food. Can't wait for Happy Hour!

Stopped for lunch and found it to be lovely. Staff friendly, service took a little time however it was very busy and when we asked one of the waitresses clearing tables if we could order she was friendly and it was no problem. Food was good Quiche with salad, which was generous and tasty, also had one of the burgers... More

I wish I had one positive comment but unfortunately that's not the case. The cafe was under half full and we sat outside. The waitress appeared flustered and impatient when I asked if there was any vegan option she could suggest. Her simple answer was no. When I asked if I could get a focaccia made and choose the ingredients,... More

This is a neat little café, sitting quietly in a corner of the village of Sassafras. Service was warm and friendly, and the ambience was cosy and inviting. The Devonshire Tea ($13.50) was the best I had tasted in a long time. Scones were fluffy, and came with rich cream and tasty jam. The Hash Brown and Smoked Salmon Stack... More
