The Sulayr is a great find, the location was perfect, mountains all around, a small street with no vehicle traffic, the staff were very attentive, not intrusive though and the food was delicious, wonderful flavours, good portions and all homemade, we will definitely be going...back for another visit.More

This is a lovely welcoming restaurant and we ate there twice during a short break. The first occasion we had burritos which were delicious, although we all agreed the portion sizes were a bit small. On the second occasion we had pizzas and pasta, all...of which were excellent. The owners are lovely and attentive and friendly and want you to enjoy your meal and drinks.More

Having stumbled over this restaurant an hour before opening, it's quirkiness and menu immediately attracted us towards a visit to Sulayr, so we headed upto the square and enjoyed a glass of wine whilst we waited. We had a lovely welcome & ordered a pizza,...a nacho platter (the latter being a particular favourite) & drinks. The service was friendly & excellent, sadly the food not so, the nacho platter being particularly disappointing. Great nachos should be haphazardly well layered with cheese throughout & topped with a generous amount of sour cream, guacamole, salsa & jalapenos. What we got was a single layer of nachos individually layed out on a dinnerplate, a very thin layer of cheese (not the lashings advertised on the menu!) with a bit of guacamole and salsa in the form of a cross on the top, a real disappointment having had far better at almost half the price. Our pizza faired slightly better but was more of an accompaniment to a drink than the other way around. If asked would we return then the answer would be a very definite yes 'for a drink', loved the staff & quirkiness but we would opt to dine elsewhere.More

Bare in mind that you really have to make an effort to get there..the road is narrow and winding (think Beatles), prices are more like Sierra Nevada than a foregone little pueblo of Granada...and you may well suffer from the sudden change of altitude..BUT -...in the end it's so worth it ! The food is homemade, the quality unbelievably good, the ambience , specially when they hold a local market, is out of this world...in short : if you want to experience the "real Spain" , this si the place to go (don't be put off by the southamerican accent of the owner..he has probably been here longer than most of the customers, who incidentally are a great mixture of expats, locals and forasteros..)More

Our recent stay in Guejar Sierra seemed to be 'out of season' for the village. Most of the restaurants and bars we had anticipated visiting were shut which was very disappointing as choosing where to eat & drink is a pleasurable part of our trips!...We were delighted to find Sulayr open on the last night of our stay and the food did not disappoint us. We had a selection of pasta and pizza dishes and desserts and they were all delicious. Freshly cooked and good portions and very reasonably priced.More

It is a bit of an odd place but as soon as you enter you feel welcome and at ease. The menu is a funny blend, but has something for everyone. We had dinner here twice and everything was good. The zucchini carpaccio is a...must. Try the pizzas as well. They're thin and they're tasteful. The couple that runs it is everywhere and so friendly! Just go there and enjoy!More

We’ve been traveling for three months in Spain and Portugal and we were longing for affordable but different - this was a great place! Great burgers and fries, homemade pizza and nachos! Peter even made us some great margaritas from scratch! Don’t expect things to...taste exactly like the American equivalents but it was all even better. We had a hard time not getting the basmati rice and curry dish...so many things to choose from. Marta is a wonderful cook and Peter a great bartender. We met a few locals there as well and had good conversation eating and drinking at the bar. There is a dining room however and it’s a great place for families.More

So glad we took advice from trip advisor and found this lovely place. Our waitress (think she’s the owner) was so friendly. She even brought us out some complimentary cake that she’d just baked, still warm and simply delicious! The food was great, home cooked...and hearty, just what we needed. There is a menu in English and loads of choice. Reasonable prices too. The actual restaurant is really cool, super quirky with a lovely wood burner. Cards and games available. A must stop for food in Güejar Sierra 😊 sadly we only had one night but would have loved to have returned. It is cash only but there are cash points very nearby.More

There was a broad choice of cuisine and a surprising range of vegetarian and vegan options. The quality of the food was great and the service excellent. The chef was truly enthusiastic about her food and restaurant, and it was refreshing to listen to her...talk passionately about her cooking! If you do visit, leave enough room for a dessert and be sure to try a Don Pedro.More
