Went for Saturday lunch, didn't seem that busy but did take a long time, an hour for our sandwiches to come, unfortunately another large group arrived as our food arrived and they were not pleasant to be near to. The staff did apologise and also only charged for small cream tea as they misunderstood the order.

Very good service, The starters were very good. Mains Steak was very good. Three people had fish which was very dry we thought it was over cooked.. This was a pity as the venue is very nice

We were very impressed by the food and the drinks together with friendly service. This is not a place for a budget meal but all round the restaurant and bar provide a high service.

I really enjoy coming here for family lunches - good value kids food and nice sandwiches or main meals for adults. I always end up going for the steak sandwich. I have also been here for dinner as well. Always welcoming and not too busy. Beer garden nice in Summer when no wedding on.

Not many places you can get a perfectly cooked rib eye roast, but this is one! Served medium rare, it was delicious. Trimmings were also great, particularly the braised red cabbage and buttered carrots. Service was brill, water and biscuits provided for the four legged guest. The Maynard shows others how Sundays should be done.

We called in on our way to Sheffield having last been at the hotel 20 years ago for our wedding reception. Chatting to the staff as to why we had popped by, we were received warmly and taken for a tour of the hotel to remind us of our day. Sitting down for afternoon tea with our daughters we had... More

We had an amazing meal at the Maynard last night. We arrived & the waitress had kindly written out all the options to suit my dietary requirements (gluten free, part dairy free). All the food was very good ... The intermediate course of a black pudding scotch duck egg was apparently delicious and the deconstructed fish pie for two was... More

We had been meaning to come here for some time and we're glad we finally got round to it. Timing was key as I am on chemotherapy for ovarian cancer and the chemo really ruins sense of taste. So this was a big night - tastebuds had recovered as far as they were going to and it was a week... More
